Hope everyone had a safe and merry Christmas. I just got back from work at the diner and im beat. I need to move some coal inside today and then I think I'll crack open some cold ones and relax.

I ate a huge dinner on Thursday night, then another one yesterday,, and have another one on Sunday afternoon.. I'm sure glad my weight was down prior to these days of overindulgence. 'burp' !

I spent both Christmas day and today working on the house project, I got the upper floor heat running this morning. This one is Pex fastened under the 3/4" flooring deck, between the floor joists. The joists are 12" on center, so a pex pipe every 12". This under floor method is no where near as good as the concrete slab on the main floor. the wood is an insulator, so I have to run the water temp in this loop pretty hot to get the floor warm.. I'll have to unsulate between the joists, I didn't want to, but the performance of the floor heat dictates that I need to insulate below the pex, to keep the heat up against the floor.

I also got the ceiling in the two-story foyer drywalled.. I had to build a temporary floor over the stairs and balcony, so I could reach the ceiling with the drywall jack and stepladders. It's up, with R44 insulation.

It's too late at night for coffee, but I have a few hours of work to do yet.. if I can get away from the 'puter.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas... My family came through for me, I got several gift cards for Home Depot.. couldn't be better.

I'm having Saturday wine rather than coffee. I'm beginning to hate the holidays. It just seems that every year brings a crisis. Four years ago my FIL passed away unexpectedly, the two years later my MIL went to join him. also unexpectedly. My Mom had a 99 % blockage in a main artery a month ago and had a stent put in and did great for a few weeks. She and my dad do a pretty traditional polish Christmas Eve dinner...homemade pierogi, mushroom and sauerkraut soup, fish, etc., and she didn't seem herself when we arrived for dinner. Dad said she had several dizzy spells over the last few days and she, the stubborn polish woman that she is, kept telling us that she was just tired from cooking. Christmas morning she fainted three times and as we turned down their street saw the ambulance lights. She had no heartbeat at all several times last night for up to 20 seconds each episode. To make along story short, she needed to have a pacemaker and had the procedure today and is doing fine. She's 80 years old and as tough as they come.We hope she'll be home tomorrow. So no Saturday coffee for me, just wine!

Glad she's ok. If she is 80 and stubborn, there will be no stopping her now with the pace maker. Good thing it happened now instead of when Obamacare kicks in or she would probably have to wait till next Christmas to get her pace maker.

Thanks coalkirk and samhill for your well wishes. They even dry wild red topper, popinkie and ramshead mushrooms my day picks for in the soup. Dad still hunts deer at 81 although he has made a small concession and carries a cell phone in case he needs help.

Coalkirk, I said the exact same thing to my dad this morning about obamacare. Probably would have been rejected for the pacer due to her age.She is a very lucky lady. She flatlined 4 times after they got her to the hospital and had to resuscitate once. She is our Christmas miracle.
