Hello List--
I'll have some coffee flavored coffee, please...
I was enjoying that piece so much, forgot the coffee pot was finished brewing...
Hoping USPS deliveres my bearings for the older BMW I am working on. Need to get it back together today.
It was nice the temps warmed yesterday enough to melt the driveway clean after a quick plow.

We've got about 6 inches here so far. They say the snow won't get heavy until tonight. I bought the girls new kid shovels at Reny's yesterday and they helped me dig the car out. Once we dug out we loaded all five of us in the car and drove into town for coffee and bagels at Cafe Creme. Might be the last time we get out for the next few days.

LOL... we agree on something. :D

The potatoes I chop up into nice little cubes about 1/2 inch or less and soak in water while the bacon is frying up and producing that greasy goodness. Once the bacon is done I drain and then rinse the potatoes again and dump them in the bacon fat. Cook them on really high heat, we have electric stove so the element is right in that range where it has that low orange glow. Add some salt and coarse ground black pepper. Frequently stir them around, usually takes about 10 minutes to get a nice golden brown outside. Drain on paper towl and slat them again as soon as they come out of oil. They are so good it should be against the law. :P

I drain most of the fat out the pan then leaving behind those nice cruchy bacon and potaoe bits of goden brown heaven and fry the eggs in it.

NICE! I'm a big fan of grease in my breakfast. Grease & lots of salt! And after a year like '09, some spikage of the coffee wouldn't hurt either! 8-)

Ahhh, Dennis Leary, fellow Masshole ...... can't you tell? :lol: Born & raised in the mean streets of Worcester MA. That'll take a toll on the best of 'em. At least he was able to turn it around & make LOTS of $$$ off it. I'm still looking for that golden parachute .... but there's no gold to be found ... only big, deep, steamy piles of ....... :!:

Looks like we got about 4" overnight, on top of the 2" we got on Tuesday, & the 4" from t hat last storm, & the 3" from waaaaay back in the first week of December --- I haven't seen my lawn in over a month now ... but I'm ok with that. It means I don't have to mow!

I'll grab 8 eggs, scrambled with some bacon grease & half a shakers worth of salt ..... and a bottle of anything ... and a glazed donut ..... off to plow the driveway.

Very windy here today and about 25 right now. Got a big mug of Kona this am. I like my coffee like my women, hot, black and bitter! :o

Brought home a mag stoker on Tuesday and planned to refurb and sell it. I decided late yesterday to wrestle it into the basement and hook it up where my Jotul had been. I gave the Jotul to my sister-in-law and her husband. They needed heat and couldn't afford the oil. I've refurbed a couple of mag stokers but never burned one. MAN! that thing is a furnace!!!!It kicks out heat like no bodys business. Now the problem is, I don't NEED the mag as the boiler is doing its regular great job. Wife already complained it's too warm in the basement. Her eliptical is down there. Oops. So I'll play with for the rest of this heating season and then refurb and sell it. Helluva stove.

Good morning all. My mouth is watering for those home fries. Nothing better than the taste of bacon! That's what we'll be having for breakfast tomorrow!

I rarely have bacon fat left over after the potatoes are done. (In fact, I usually cook the potatoes with the bacon fat I keep in the fridge. ;) ) But I'm with Smitty: if there's pepper on the bacon, or still chunky stuff in the pan when it's time for the eggs, I am tempted to scramble them so's not to waste a bit of it. 8-)

You want law? Here's one: the uglier the scrambled egg, the better it tastes.

And here's another: Ham warms up much better in a spoon of bacon fat. Conducts the heat better and reduces those little burn spots.

The above are, of course, subordinate to the overarching law that, as Emeril says, "Pork fat rules!"

LOL I'll have to agree with that !! :lol:

If you like your potatoes crispy, when you are done soaking them in water, drain them, then very lightly coat them with flour with salt and pepper. Just a light dusting.. then put into the hot bacon fat. The coating of flour acts like a breading.. adding a starch layer to pure starch, browned in grease.. I think I may need a bypass soon. :lol: This 'light dusting' with flour works really well with french fries and hash browns. I like my hashbrowns hard and crunchy,, I hate soggy HB's.. I send them back or ignore them if they are soggy.

What I don't like are eggs with the hard crust around the edge.. it's inedible.. but love sunny side up, over easy, and my favorite.. scrambled with lots of extra sharp cheddar mixed in. YUM.. Darn it,, I'm gonna have to go to town to get breakfast now.. I don't have a kitchen yet,and can't use a microwave to make decent eggs.. :shock: :lol:

Good Morning on this first Saturday of the New Year and Freddy's first of the year! I know this post is marked as afternoon but I did start the first one that just up an disappeared before noon so ...

Just enjoyed my egg sandwich with bacon of course :) and copious coffees. Got my brothers' families and Mom & Dad coming to the house soon. Dad hasn't been getting around well lately and is determined to get here today so good for him! Last night I was busy making up two pots of red beans for Red Beans & Rice one pot spicy and one limp. ;) This morning I fired up the smoker in the 22* wind and started BBQing my first turkey. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but so far it's holding a nice smokey (apple wood) 350*. If I remember to take pictures of the bird, I'll post some later.

Enjoy the day everyone. My thoughts are with y'all.

Geepers, geepers, geepers... I had almost cleaned the drool off my chin from all the home fry stories and now we're BBQing turkey! Stop itttt! Oh, no, wait, don't stop it... Yummmmm <licking lips>

The snow is still coming down. Another 3" since this morning, but still no "2-3" per hour". The wind is starting to beef up and changing to the NE. Maybe tonight will be the biggie. I had to go to town & do some errands. Surprisingly, I didn't see any stupid drivers. Quite a bit of traffic, but everyone was driving as if their lives depended on it. I didn't even see one car off the road.
