Woke up to about 8in. of new on top of the 6 that was here. Snowing like wild, turned north toward Astabula after a few miles it was nice & clear until I got to just about the same area on the return trip.
Nothing like it anywhere. I believe it only happens with the great lakes for the most part. When the conditions are just right , look out. Snowed alot here yesterday and the sun was shinning. I'm in the snow belt. Highest point from the lake. When it gets here , it just dumps it on ya. We were very lucky , till now. lol
We are in South Western NY, so far, been pretty lucky, if the winds come due east or southeast, we get hit, normally it goes up the lake to Buffalo!! We have to 2-3" on ground, very cold, around 11 degrees out, as the High!
We get "ocean effect snow". The storm winds up, sucks moisture off the ocean & dumps on us as snow. It's been snowing for about 60 hours.... honest! The first 24 hours got about 4", the next 30 hours got about 5 more ", the last 4 hours got another FOOT! Yowza! "Ang to ;er 'ard, she's 'eaded fer the rhubarb!
I just snow blowed for the third time. It's winding down now. One more go around tomorrow should do it.
Woke up to another 8 to 10 & still snowing, wife said I gotta get the snow blower out so the dogs will go. The neighbow plowed the driveway yesterday & now its missing again, it will show up in the spring always does.
Just pissing snow here. We're too far from the big lakes to get lake effect snow. We do get a lot of moisture from the coast though. Grew up in Syracuse and lived in Buffalo area for a while but I don't miss the extra snow one bit.
I've got plenty of lake effect in my yard; some places it's drifted up to my waist overnight. I'd say it's about 1.5-2 ft. snowfall. I work for the county and I was called at 6:22 this morning and told my 7:30 start time was moved back to 9:15. Ten minutes later I was called and told "the county is shutdown, stay home" Sure glad I've got the snowblower. One of the best investments I've made! -Len
