I saw in the owners manual that it mentions warnings about creosote when burning wood.
Maybe this is just a standard disclaimer for any solid fuel stove - or is the Chubby designed to let you burn wood too ?
That would be nice for the fall/spring when continuous burning is not practical.

sure! I had a chubby TYPE stove as my first stove ever and burned wood scraps from the cabinet shop in it all winter. it's not ideal in that its size and shape doesn't allow for loading up with big logs. you'll want a manual damper on it if you burn much wood. just be careful it can really heat up in a hurry on wood. just about any handfired coalstove will fire wood, but many not with ease or efficiency. still though in Aug or Sept evening when unseasonably cold, its a great idea!

Having the option to burn wood makes this little Ginsu very attractive for my application.ohabanero wrote:sure! I can not speak from experience with the chubby stove but, I do believe the chubby came out back in the 70's, when everybody was on the big wood burning kick. Very few people burned coal back then that I can remember. It was wood. Everybody wanted to burn wood. A hand full of people around me used coal. Like I said; No chubby experience here.

My wife loves the looks of the Chubby and even my mother complimented saying that it is the cutest little stove she had ever saw. All of our female visitors always say the same thing, " Oh what a cute little stove." The Chubby has some sort of sex appeal to the ladies. 
I have yet to find one that doesn't think that it is so cute.
Maybe we need a study on the women that stare at Chubby Stoves.
Who knows, maybe it will allow us guys to live longer too, using the other study.
