Brrr - coldest so far -6 degrees

PostBy: WNY On: Sun Jan 10, 2010 10:27 am

We had -6 degrees this morning, the house was 68 down/64 upstairs. I was suprised at how cold it was outside.

The LL was cranking at 96% Feed Rate but keeping up!! It was about 550 on the stove.....

Somehow it was actually warmer at my house than forecasted, instead of -7 it was 3 degrees this morning.

The coldest day I have had so far is -8, but we've had -30 wind chills twice. The house heats very easy with no wind, but when the 25 mph NW wind kicks in I keep the fridge stocked and the shovel close to the boiler.

I don't know what it was here. Weatherbug on my PC said -1' with the station a few blocks from here. Accu weather was showing -3' and the Weather Channel was showing either -5' or -7' I can't remember. I think the -1' is more realistic because we live in town. The others are @ the airport away from the city.

Whoa whoa whoa! Stop right there now. Negative temps are great. Just think of the positives, lakes freeze up, more reason to burn coal, and replacing frozen pipes. Lets not get carried away now, if it werent for those temps we might not all be on here talking about coal and coal accessories. Cheer up now, this is the good season.

-5 Degrees Albany NY. Wife got up at 5 A.M. and was amazed at the rush of warm air coming up the stairs from the Keystoker 90 in the basement. It was cranked to 78 degrees in the basment upstairs was comfortable 66. 16 outside now 64 in the garage with door to the basement open, Modine hanging in the garage is becoming an ornament!
