How's The Thaw Treating You?

Figured it was worth asking....

Being everyone's situation is different,it seemed like a good idea to get other opinions, struggles, blessings etc. I'm at the point of having to deal with some mess on some of my in-progress projects. This Thaw has also given me a new hope on the upcoming season on Sandusky Bay...Yeah !! How 'bout you?

The Coal feed has slowed WAY down. so saving fuel. !! :)

No problems around here, most of the snow is melted, maybe about 1-2" on the ground in spots or small piles.

Not looking forward to starting on stripping/painting the house in the spring, but has to be done. Currently working on renovating the bathroom right now. Trying to get inside projects done.

Still plenty of snow on this end of the state. I'm at a higher elevation so it takes longer for the snow to melt and we generally get more too. Still had about 4-6 inches in the yard this morning. Got about 4-5 inches of the fluffy stuff yesterday which compacted down over the day.

We still have at least 5" on the ground ... haven't seen one blade of grass since the end of the first week of December. Snowing right now, to replace what melted a few days ago.

Stove is turned down to 1-3/8 turns out. When I run it this low it seems the boiler kicks on more. I actually use less oil when it's colder, due to the extra heat output the coils soak up.

Coal AND Firewood usage is wayyyyy down. Had to let the coal stove go completely out last week. No problem, as I had to do my mid-season cleaning anyway. The ground was thawing too quickly last week. The front yard is a mud lake, with a "Iceberg" in the middle of it. The iceberg was a huge pile of snow that I piled up for the kids with the snowblower. They like being able to sleigh ride in the front yard :D

Until then,Hambden Bob...
