Brown does the impossible in Mass

Brown does the impossible in Mass

PostBy: smokeyCityTeacher On: Wed Jan 20, 2010 1:38 am

I am surprised at the strength of the backlash against Obama care, taxes and huge spending as demonstrated by the Mass voters being unwilling to honor even the great Ted Kennedy with a victory for whats her name that ran for his seat.

My guess is that if the Senate even gives the appearance of stalling to seat Brown - it will be seen as an attempt to thwart the will of the people.

Surely the Dems are smart enough not to try it.

Also I was surprised at Dennis Kucinich who sounded very genuine and came across as a straight shooter when interviewed by Fox. He said that Obama's excise tax on health care benefits and the exemption to unions completely unacceptable and he would not vote for the bill in its current form no matter how much his colleagues press him. I wish the Fox interviewer would have quit t interrupting him every 30 seconds to try to put word in Dennis' mouth.

Never liked him before but I respect for the guy calling it like it is in spite of peer pressure to shove this thing down our throats.

I hope Nanci and Harry are next.

And to think that just a couple of months ago the pundits were saying that Health Care Reform would be dead Ted's living legacy.

Ted's rolling in his grave.

Well, Geo. Will said tonight that lately the bill was taking on the form of a kamikaze raid. He's right, the desperation was over the top with the buy-offs. Could we be so lucky?

No, we are not out of the woods yet [knock on wood], but, the election of a Republican to the Senate in Mass. is a resounding blow to Ted's style of liberal lawmaking. Win, lose or draw, Ted's "brand" was rejected.

If this smack down and repudiation of socialism can happen in Mass. it can happen anywhere. The only way Obamacare can pass now is if the house accepts the Senate version. I don't think that's going to happen. House dems are going to be heading for the high grass after seeing Coakly rejected. They want to protect their phoney baloney jobs in November.

Obama was taken to the wood shed for trying to ram this crap down the throats of Americans who by a 70% margin didn't want this health care bill. It was made even more onerous with the exemptions for Nebraska, Louisina and certain union members. That was just plain wrong. Shame on him for even trying to do so. If Obamacare was so freaking wonderful, why did so many dems need an exemption in order to vote for it?

Republicans would be wise to not misinterpret these events as some how endorsing them. It's not. It's a reflection of the total disgust most of us felt for the "rulers" not listening to the people. Who the hell do they think they are? I see Reid, Pelosi and Obama out of office as a result of this movement. Republicans better come up with some ideas and alternatives if they hope to gain ground. While I would like to see a viable third party emerge that isn't beholding to the far left and far right special intrest groups, I fear there are still too many roadblocks to that happening.

Anyway, I'm very thankful for this coarse correction and hope others throughout the country will be energized by this historic dem defeat.

If this election in MA shows anything, it is that personality and ethics count more than party affiliation. It would be
a mistake to think it is all party driven. Martha made that mistake......

I think Scott Brown did us "libs" a favor.

1. Beware of what you wish for. We don't "own" the gov't anymore. 60 isn't the magic number; 41 is. If nothing happens, it'll be because the GOP has stopped it all. Remember what happened to Newt when he tried that sh!t in 1995-6?

2. Now that we Dems don't have the "magic 60," we don't need to deal with scum like Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson, who extorted bribes to cast party votes. They don't get us over the threshold anymore, so they can pound sand. And, if no Republicans (or "Scott Brown Republicans" ) come along, see (1).

3. You guys want Congressional negotiations on C-span? You're gonna get 'em now. Then see (1).

4. We've got all year to digest the coffee and watch you tea-baggers and bible-thumpers and country-clubbers form a circle and start shooting at each other, as you realize that you're even less unified than the Dems and then primary the sh!t out of each other trying to get on the big bandwagon.

This'll be rich.

I'm still in shock. For the first time I feel my vote actually counted here.

Unless you live west of Rt.128,you'll never know what I'm talkin about.

Funny how now they're saying they will wait for Scott to be seated to go over the health care bill.Guess they're all afraid of losing their jobs now. :P
