Does anyone here have a Hitzer 983 that is free standing? I can not find pictures of one anywhere and was wondering how much coal these things hold? According to Hitzer the fire box is much larger then the 354 or 50-93.

Thanks,
Glenn

Hitzer 983 Problem
You can see a 983 as a freestanding stove here.
The 983 has 390 sq. inch firebox compared to the 351.6 sq. inch of the 50/93 and is rated for more sq ft. of heating area.
I think the 983 would make a impressive freestanding stove, with an extra 125 lb. of extra steel over the 50/93.
I believe the 983 holds around 80 lb of coal in the firebox. But don't forget the 50/93 has the reserve capacity of the hopper.

Thank you for the reply. I spoke with Hitzer today (wow are they nice people) and after every single question I had was answered I am confident that the 50-93 is the way to go for what I need. We got my friends Stratford SC75 hooked up and running yesterday and as a new coal burner he just loves it! I have a SC100 sitting in the garage that I was debating on just selling or using and I think after his response I might give the thing a try. I really do not like the small ash pan though so I will have to sleep on it and decide. I really like the HUGE window of the Stratford though.

Thanks again,
Glenn
