Nope, Mr Greg [spell it right] White has a Harman SF 150, a slightly smaller version of the SF250. Harman used to make three versions, 150, 250 and 350.

I'm teasing 'Mr White', he is a good friend, so I'll get all the teasing back with interest. :) :)

BTW: Greg's SF 150 puts out the heat!! The built-in tubes/heat exchanger really works well.

It heats his machine shop well even at 0* temps.

Hi, I am also from the Y-town area and new to the forum. A wood burner for the last 12 years and am switching to coal this year with Ohio`s new restrictions on moving wood. Bushes fireplace On Gladstone off Baily road has Hitzer stoves-ask for Dale who has gone out of his way to help us. Also East fairfield Coal in New Springfield carries Alaskian stoves and Dan there has also been great. The next closest would be Lehmans Hardware in Kidron, but the above 2 will price match. Hope this helps and is not too late.

Dear cf1,

I bought a very nice Lopi coal stove off eBay from a guy in Kane, PA., who had about a dozen or so. They are older models, maybe from the 80’s, but new in the crates. I burned it constantly last winter and it is a dandy. I gave $750 and it has proven to be a good unit. I burned bituminous, anthracite, both mixed, and wood, and it performed well. It is my impression that it is a fine appliance for the money. Look on the map; Kane may not be too far from you.

If Ohio is like Pa it is due to the emerald ash borer. A non native pest that kills hardwood trees and it has no natural predators. Here in western Pa it is illegal to transport firewood out of the local area in an effort to stop the spread of this pest.

Here is a link for the ash borer http://www.emeraldashborer.info/

We have the same restrictions in Michigan. The Ash-borer is killing off a lot of hardwood trees. I've lost dozens of trees on my property.

Doesn't the HearthMate made in the mid 80's have a shaker grate and firebricks in it?
I haven't read the name on the front of the stove in the Family room for quite sometime but I think its a HearthMate.
I burn coal in mine and am quite pleased. The owners manual spends a lot of pages explaining how to burn soft coal in it by using the bottom air and the top air to regulate the fire.
Of course it maybe too late to post this info as he may have bought a stove.

I believe Leisure Line can ship their stoves if you can't find a local dealer. I have the Alaska Channing 3 and love it. A stoker is the way to go. I can go a week sometimes without doing anything although when it's very cold out I will need to empty the ash and fill up the hopper every three days. This is much better than wood which needs constant attention.
