Just a heads-up. In my journey to debug my Windows 2000 Page Load Failure problem, I found an interesting version of Linux that is very polished and user friendly: Linux Mint 8.

Down load the iso image. Burn the CD. Change the BIOS to boot from CD first. Stick it in and GO!

Boot from CD with no hard drive installation. I am posting right now from Linux using the built-in Firefox 3.5. Connected to the internet seamlessly, found my USB thumb drive. With 512 MB of installed memory: have open two Browser windows, Thunderbird email, system monitor, text editor, and streaming 40lbhead audio. Memory usage 55%. AND NO HARD DRIVE. Very Cool!

Have fun.

The direct URL for the download:
http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/linuxmint.com/stable/8/L ... Mint-8.iso

or the download page:
http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php

I'm back in Windows 2000, on a fresh OS installation, and this software is broken! :x
Time to update.

I'm using Mint right now. It's pretty good, just a word of warning. Make 1000% sure your wireless internet works. After 6 months, I still have a wire running across my room trying to get it up and running and I find the community less than helpful.

Other than that, I love it. :D
