The Wrong Debate

PostBy: cybdav On: Sat Jan 23, 2010 7:06 pm

So long, being a conservative, I have wrapped myself in the conservative/liberal debate. With great angst I have gnashed teeth over those stupid liberals and their socialist ways that hurt our country. And you know.........that is exactly what the politicians want. They get up there in Washington and become a member of an elite society. They are paid higher than 95% of Americans' average total household income. They eat in an exclusive cafeteria where us common folk are not allowed. They have free access to exclusive high end gym memberships. They have the best health care in the world unavailable to the rest of us. All these and many other things they have given themselves through legislation. They propagate and exaggerate a multitude of issues and purposely make them worse to convince us that we need them. They pit us against each other on issues like abortion, gun control, immigration and gay marriage and oh don't we argue. And they know that by us continuing to argue, the issues are less likely to be solved and there jobs are seen as more needed.

There only concern is to consolidate and retain power. They are not for the people but for themselves. They are completely insulated from us and do not see or care what our issues are. The power and perks they receive has corrupted them. Believe me, there are simpler easier ways to solve our issues but they do not want that to happen. Neither the Democrats or the Republicans are going to be "for the people." They are manipulating and lying to us.

Does this seem like a conspiracy theory to you? Research this and see for yourself. There are a great many books on this subject now and it is eye opening. We are in great danger of losing our freedom. While I still believe in conservative values and don't like a lot of the political correct socialist tendencies I am seeing, I do realize now that these are much smaller battles than we are letting them be made out to be. Our focus needs to be elsewhere.

We need to, as soon as we can, end the perks and impose term limits on our politicians. The congress needs to go back to being a body of professionals that serve a term of service and then go back to their private lives. Professional politicians cannot help us.

Yes, welcome aboard. I am beginning the fight at the Grass Roots level. In my opinion that's the foundation we have to build on in order to make a permanent change in Washington. We have a chance to make some real changes in Nov of 2010 but we need to start now and make sure those we send to Washington are just as committed to change as we are. I'm sure most everyone on the forum thinks I'm a Republican but I'm not, I'm a Conservative. Right now the Republicans most closely match what I think is needed for the country but I vote for the person with the most conservative positions on the issues and who earns my trust. Forget party affiliation - vote for the individual. Lisa

I don't think it's the lesser of two evils by no means. Simply put: We're right, they're wrong, end of story! :D :o The focus needs to be on the long term, what is right for this country. Too much time is being spent on the "issue of the day". It's time to pull back and look at the big picture.

Well, like one of my Cultural Heroes,Slim Pickens said in Blazing Saddles: "Dammit Boys,We've been snookered in".....

cybdav, excellent post with fine productive thought for the Country. I like LowFog's approach on the Grass Roots level. If we're all going to be viewed as sheep or feeders, whether we're Conservative/Centrist or Liberal, then let's all do it in earnest. Excess stomach acid, heart conditions, nervous conditions,defeatism,situation-induced depression and ulcers never helped a Good American. Let the Bums suffer from all of that. Whoever and whatever you are, gather with like-minded people and do something you feel is positive for the Country you live in. We'll always fight when the time comes for a showdown, but dammit,at least it's going to mean something. When I die I'd like to be "Jumping Clean".....And just so you know,I don't plan on selling soap boxes for a living, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night and.......................Hambden Bob.....
