The Immorality of the Left

Point taken, I was going up against you for entertainment purposes. As long as the electricity is on and we're warm in our houses, and the media hasn't been cut off Chavez style; there's no need to panic. Yet. I think you are willing to talk.
You should start a thread: The Immorality of The Right.

Here's a small recent story.
My young liberal-leaning buddy works part time for my ex-sister-in-law and my brother. It's a casual assembly type job.
He sent her an email, saying "Isn't it nice that America has won some medals in the Olympics!"
She returned the email, and scolded him, saying, " Don't use the word America, it's a global community of human beings now."
My friend was aggravated, telling me he just wanted to express some pride in his country.

Her father, a war veteran, is spinning in his grave, I'm sure. I no longer have anything to do with her if I can help it. Her daughter is out in California, protesting a proposed new dam. Breaks my heart, I'm all for progress, construction, industry. Radical environmentalists, the vocal minority, have caused a lot of farmland to dry up.
The polarization that is so apparent in this country is frustrating. These nutty aspects of the left astonish me.

May have nothing to do w/ anything--my only sibling(sister, now 66) & I were raised Episcopalian & celebrated X-mas for many years family style--never got a new corvette, but a new pair of jeans or boots was always pretty exciting & still is---ANYWAY--sister is a bleeding heart liberal---she married a Jewish guy & then converted to Judaism--brother in law thinks she's a pain in the a-- w/ it---so for yrs we always were careful when sending x-mas cards to have them say Happy Holidays---not Merry X-mas---2 yrs ago we sent a happy Holiday card w/ a pictire of an X-mas tree on it---she freaked out & 4explained that they don't observe that crap---didn't talk for a year---now they get no card---point being---people can be idiots & usually there the only ones that don't know it :(

I think radical anything is wrong, being passionate about your beliefs is understandable but taking it too far becomes detrimental IMO.
About the immorality of the right thread I`ll save that for someone else, I don`t think anyone should ridiculed because of their opinion thats one of the basic rights we have in the constitution & as an American I would never think that any person is not entitled to the same right as myself.
Fred, just say your post come up. I to have Jewish relatives but mine would come up to my Grandmothers every year for Christmas dinner, my uncle (where the Jewish side came in) would even have a slice of ham or two & laugh about & tell everyone to keep it to themselves.

The schools I went to, both high school and college, had high jewish populations. In those days no one got upset about which holiday you celebrated or what kind of greeting you used in the season. Maybe it was just the exceptance of youth but it seems we were all a little more tolerant of each other back then and I miss that.

yes, passionate is good & yes we were way more tolerant back when--but again-fanaticism was not a rampant disease back when--unless you want to jump back to people like hitler or that other guy who thought everyone was a commie---it wasen't the norm like it is today

The converts are always the worst. They have the need to prove they are better believers than the rest.

I lived with a Jewish woman for three years. My last girlfriend is Jewish, her issues have problems, but it's got nothing to do with being Jewish, she's a psycho.
I worked for a retired Jewish Federal Judge last year, couldn't ask for a more down to earth customer.

Here's something I wrote to a fellow coal club member, who has an interest in human behavior:
Just like a caveman grunting and waving a club over his head, I tend to react to opinions here that threaten me. I hope I can prefer to transcend my own reactions if possible, and gain some understanding of my own behavior, why I react angrily to someone else's viewpoint. Maybe I can contribute in some infinitesmal way to the maturation of the human race.

I checked out some history of Boonton, NJ, where I lived and went to high school. Going back to the late 1800's, the iron industry waned and the silk industry came along to take its place. So I guess our great USA has gone through a lot of ups and downs and made it through them all. There's so much information instantly available with the internet now. I can get downright paranoid. The NWO, Progressivism, nationalism, zenophobia, socialism, communism, Chavez, Iran, North Korea, China, Obama, Cheney, health care, the deficit, islam, overpopulation, AGW; my head is going to explode.

I heard this country is a great experiment in tolerance. I hope to be more tolerant, for the sake of my country and my blood pressure.

OK, I let the coal fire go out this morning due to laziness, better attend to it.....

HAHAHA this is off topic us fellow Americans are supposed to be visciously fighting here.

I should be grateful about her, if you can never get a word in edgewise ya never strain your vocal chords. OK I better stop, I'm afraid she'll start stalking me again...

OK back on topic, The right wants every day to be The Fourth of July, and the left wants every day to be April 15th!

George Will at CPAC a few days ago. His eloquent and humorous address touches on all points discussed here. I encourage all to view this erudite man explain in certain and logical terms what America will be, depending on the leaning of your moral values. Geo. Will begins his speech at the 1:00 mark.
