Many moons ago, I used to have a small coal fired hot water heater. At that time, I didn't think much about these things as having various coal fired aparatus around was common.
Thinking back on it now, I'd really love to get my hands on one of them again. I have no idea what brand it was or anything, so I'll just have to try and describe it as best I can remember.
It was fairly small, about 2-1/2 tall, shaped kind of like a big headed bullet. The top was a double walled cast iron piece with a hatch for a door kind of at 45 degrees from center where the coal was fed. This top piece had a water connector in the middle of the back and dead center in the top. That way the cold water could flow into the back and the heat would let it rise out the top.
The bottom part was pretty simple, had the point where the grates could be shaken and then a bottom door with the air control on it. The one I had didn't have a floor, it was made to be sitting on a dirt floor and nobody cared. I don't know if it was just missing or made that way.
Does anybody recognize what kind of stove I'm trying to describe? Anybody know what they are called, got a picture and/or even better anybody know where I could buy one?
