Goodbye Levi's

Huh??? I wonder--Rustlers from Wally-World@$9.00 are made in Mexico with US materials--maybe they've gotten like lawn mowers & tractors--MTD--no matter what they're called--Don't know about the Green Guys--out of my price range
Wood'nCoal wrote:With my job I can wear jeans. I wear them 7 days a week, always Levi's. I know when they are not what they used to be. These companies have gotten so big they have lost sight of what made them what they are, despite what they may have on their web sites.
Wranglers are made in Mexico "with US materials", we'll see what happens.

If they are all sized the same, why do they not fit the same ?????

Poor quality control, poor materials, and cheap labor.

Guess someone else noticed:

To come to think of it, I haven't bought a new pair of Levis this century. Do you think I can keep this pace up till next century??? :D It's Dickies & Carhartts for me. I also like a line Walmart carries by Jesse James for work shirts. But the, Made in China tag does make me cringe.

I still have quite a few pairs of Levi's kicking around. Those are my dress clothes. :D I'm going to try out that link that was posted. I'll feel alot better keeping OUR boys workin'.

My buddies all laugh at me because I keep the same clothes for 10 years or more. I'd still be wearing jeans from high school if I could still fit in them! I'm still able to force my concert shirts on though.

When I'm working I have several pairs of Riggs Workwear jeans (made by Wrangler). The quality control on these makes Levi's seem like tuxedo quality. One pair falls off me, & I have to wear a belt ... while another is so tight I get a belly ache! Plus, I hate the fit ... they hang down like some punk gang-banger outfit in the city -- drives me nuts. But I didn't pay for them ... they were old work uniforms that I sort of forgot to return ... :shh: toothy I just wear them when I'm rolling around on the dirt floor of my barn in grease, oil, & battery acid ... like last night until 3am ...

Ditto on the Walmart shopping. I only darken the doors if I am desperate. I buy local and US made unless I have no choice. Of course, I have to drive 35 miles in one direction and 60 in the other to get to a Walmart! We don't have a lot of places to shop so sometimes you have to get it where you can when you can.

Hahaha-- I've got a lot of Kirkland brand from Costco. Made in Mexico which is patriotic in a convoluted way- it keeps Mexican workers in Mexico. All my jeans eventually develop a hole in the left knee, from whatever odd job I end up doing. Kneeling on roofs, in the dirt, on concrete, painting baseboards, carpentry, whatever.

Pretty much the same here. I used to wear only Levi's until my 30's then I became frugal....LOL.

Now I usually buy Carharts or Arizona for casual stuff.

It's kinda Ironic that as I was reading this thread that the google ad was for... u guessed it LEVI's!

Same here, always the left knee first!

I received a reply to my email to Levi's today. I can send the pants in question to them (at my expense) for analysis, if they are defective I'll get replacements sent.

I don't think it's worth my time to send them, I suspect "normal wear and tear" would be the reply.

I only wear Dickies for work now. This fall they had a big sale at Dickies.com . I bought 4 pairs of pants for $12 ea, and 3 polo shirts for $7 ea.
When those came in I packed up three pair of my 5 year old dickies, sent them back to the factory. Got my new replacements about 3 weeks later. Dickies have a warranty. :P

Save the world by washing your clothes in cold water!!

And when you take them out of the washer they are still dirty, not to mention if you're not going to line dry them the dryer will use a lot more energy heating up cold clothes vs. warm clothes.

I suspect this was an automated response to a negative message.

cut and pasted from the complaint board.

Tom Asher from Levi called me this past week. Levi is standing by their product by replacing the jeans i was not satisfied with. It took a little while, but thank you Mr. Asher for caring enough to fix this for me. I will remain a Levi customer.

I don't think anyone was complaining about quality,it was about priceing :( Please ask Tom to get his priceing in line w/ the pathetic state of the economy or is this about screw the people that are just about keeping their taxes paid, and food on the table for their families--I'd bet if Levi got competative with their priceing, alot of life long wearers would purchase levis' again :!: And I mean REALLY,they fixed a problem that apparently they were responsable for,BIG DEAL
