snowin & blowin

Jan.28--they called for snow squalls-whatever they are--I know that after an hour or so the snow was half way up the wheels on my my old chevy pick-em-up--the old Hitzer loves it--it's chilly--oh well,looks like tomorrow I'll have to crank up the older(78) chevy-pick-em-up w/plow & work my way down to the barn--I may be dilirious(sp),but I like winter--maybe that's why we haven't retired to Fla.Or we realized we weren't really rich enough to actually retire and not old enough to die. YET!!!

Are you just south of the snow belt Fred or still in it? I always thought the snow belt ended somewhere between Cortland and Binghamton.

Will,we're at exit 9 off 81 (Marathon) and about 8 miles west on 221--Cortland County--still in something--I guess they call it the Rt 81 corrider--it's a whole different world up here on the hill

Sounds similar to where my sister lives just outside Fabius. They have their own climate there

was almost 60 a few days ago!

About 3-4" here in Southwest NY along the NY/PA border....Blowing and snowing a bit and about 9 Degrees this morning.
Still under Lake Effect Warning until 6pm tonight!

Was pretty nasty in Syracuse too at the time. I think it was one of the few times they closed the University due to weather.

The big storm for me was the storm in 1966. Snow up to the roof tops. We were sliding down the neighbors roofs into the street (which was buried).

In the last three days, I drove from Rochester west toward Buffalo, SW around Erie into Central OH and back to eastern, PA yesterday. I don't know how anyone lives along Rt90??? It was brutal. The wind was brutal, and then the snow mixed in.
I had to get gas on Rt 90. Had to be gale force winds blowing.

We got hammered today by the wind too ... and the blowing snow, with single-digit wind-chills. Lost power for about 5 hours today. Had a balmy high temp of 14°F.

Posted this in a different section but wanted to share it here too...

I took these at 5:15 this morning. The digital is downstairs where the Hitzer is, the Sunbeam is upstairs, behind where the Hitzer is pointed. I loaded the stove with wood and set my "Dial Heat" at halfway at around 10:30 last night. Damn thing works great!
