Restored coal delivery truck

I was just surfing anything that had to do with coal in Maine, and found this story/history of a delivery truck at the Cole land transportation museum in Bangor.http://www.colemuseum.org/gallery.php?photo_id=55
I'm going to Bangor tomorrow for my grand daughter's foul shooting contest finals; I think I may try to find it.

Or maybe I won't. Looks like it doesn't open til May 1st, except for schools and such. Be a good to-do listing for May though.

I don`t think I`d like to work on something with that cab over my head, I`m sure they have some sort of safety but I know my luck.

The lifts have no safety mechanism, If a hose breaks or something and you're underneath it you don't get to tell that story. Can't tell you how many times I've seen people walk over to my truck and stick their damn head under the lift to look. :shock:

If you were working on it you could always block it but that wasn't practical for every day. Those lifts killed a lot of people over the years, thankfully no one in my family.

I know the dump bodies didn`t have them on either the scissor or hydralic type from working on them but I thought they might have on the cab. Never ran into anything like that, unless its not all the way up in the picture it doesn`t seem to give much room anyway. My old dump had angle iron safety brakets but I still put a block in anyway, theres no second chance if one slams down on you.

The new small dump trailer I got recently has a tubular strut that goes between the body and frame as a safety device.It is nice to have but I will not be using it much since no part of me will be in or under that scissors/nutcracker design. Mike
