Thank You so very much!.....Definitely got "the moist eyes" knowing this film was the real deal. As you can see from my avatar, the "Little Friends" as escorting fighters were known by,kept the B-17's and B-24's alive....I owe you,Coaledsweat.

A Very Grateful Hambden Bob

I grew up across the street from a decorated Navy carrier pilot.
He was always seemed larger than life. He was originally from
Michigan and a Dartmouth grad. He never spoke of the war.

My dad worked on the P-51s as an aircraft engine mechanic before and during the beginning of the Korean war. There are still some engine parts floating around in storage somewhere. When the Korean war started the US was so short of modern aircraft they actually flew some P-51s until they had some newer models.

That was fabulous! Makes me want to go talk to the old guy I grew up with. He is 90+ now. He never talked about the war.

Corsairs and Thunderbolts too. Even our "modern" aircraft weren't real good against the MIGs, the F-80 for instance was a loser. Once the F-86 came out we started knocking them down at a real good ratio.

How do you follow a story like that? You can't. These men preserved our freedom. That is all that can be said. How more can you thank them for what they have done?

You shake their hand and let them know that you and others actually respect what they did for their/your country  :nice:

Excellent video. My Stepfather flew fighters in Korea and Vietnam. He transitioned from prop driven planes to jets. He was a double ace having 12 confirmed kills. He died from a brain tumor in 1989 as the result of suspected Agent Orange exposure when he was serving in Vietnam. He is one of my personal heroes.
