This will be our third season with the 50-93 without the blower. The radiant heat comes in very handy when our power goes out. Last season the ice knocked out the power for 3 days and having the radiant heat aloud us to heat water, and cook on the top was very nice. Even with power, we usually will cook a stew on top of it every few weeks.
Our living room has a paddle fan for circulation and heat a 3,000 sq foot farm house with it.
Good luck with your purchase...

Just wanted to run this by you guys one more time. I finished up this heating season with my wood stove and almost all my wood is gone, so I am ready to make the change to the Hitzer 50-93 so I stopped by the dealer to check his prices and he has a like new 50-93 there without a blower for 750.00! I am really tempted to buy it for that price and take my chances without the blower, just not sure if I will regret not buying the new the new stove with the blower.
I would think it to be what the price difference is. Can a blower be installed on the used one in the future if you wanted to? What is the cost of just a blower if you can install one in the future? If the price difference between getting the used one and a blower in the future is not much less than the cost of a new one, I would just buy the new one and be ready to go.
Nice price!! Would this stove be located in a room with a paddle fan? We are really sold on our radiant 50-93 because of the times without electricity and our living rooms paddle fan, but at the same time not knowing what the fan model would offer us.

I have a 50-93 w/ blower upstairs in the main part of the house & only occasionally use the blower--If I had the set up to be able to put it in the basement,w/ floor vents--for $750.00 I would buy a box fan & use it to circulate the heat more widely then the blower on the stove does. When it gets real cold I use one to get the heat moving more then the blower does--I found mine on Craigs list (local) for $1000.00---you'll like the stove & trial & error will get it efficient to your needs

Buy it!! , you can rig up a fan system if you need to. That price is about half of new.. and they don't get 'old' or wear out very fast or very easy.

I am heating my ranch house (2500sqft) from the basement with the 50-93 w/blower, heated with wood till this past Feb. , the wood stove was in the same location as the 50-93 without a blower, heated ok but the new 50-93 heats much better . I wouldn't be without the blower, the stove is in the center of the basement and facing the stairs, the basement is ground level and semi finished, with a reastat in line to the blower motor I have it on a slow blow and it helps to move the heat to the stairwell and upstairs. Stove will operate just fine if the power goes out and the blower isn't running. Go with the blower, I know that $700 figure is real good but if you can't attach a blower to it go with a new one, also the new ones you can remove the hopper and burn wood to finish up your pile. Suggestion if you haven't done it yet, install some cold air returns in the upstairs floor in rooms farthest from the stairwell, this got my circulation going and the whole house is now even temp, cozy 73* throughout the house. You will just fall in love with the stove, tell your wife not to be jealous she will love it to.
Take a good look at a new stove with the blower you are not just paying for a blower, the way Hitzer run the air housing it collects heat off the exhaust pipe then if you look under the top where the air comes out you will see fins across the top of the stove which pulls the heat up off the stove giving more area for the air to extract the heat from the stove which in turn more heat in the house for your coal money and less going up the chimney.

Being a well seasoned 50-93 owner, I'd probably buy the new 50-93 with built in fan/removeable hopper. Should you ever decide to sell it, the removeable hopper would attract all the people who want the option of burning wood. Resale value would be higher. But that's me. Also, it all depends on your situation. You can't beat any good 50-93 for $750.00. You can heat your house, and get your money back out of it any time. Either way, the 50-93 is a very good, and sound performer. You'll like it. PS: I prefer the fan model.
