Birds in my stove

Birds in my stove

The title pretty much sums up the end result. Last Wednesday my wife discovered an unexpected result to the nasty winter storm that passed through PA. Whlie reading the morning paper she heard some scratching and banging in the stove pipe. After some close examination she saw a bird tring to get out through the barometric damper  . She tried to get the bird out and into a pillow case but the heat and the fumes did the bird in within a few minuts. She was able to fish out the bird with a big pair of arc joint pliers while the stove still ran. A few hours passed and more noise started to come from the pipe, another bird was trying to get out the damper. Yet again the bird died but his time she couldn't get the bird out. Needless to say I had roast starling when I got home  . The storm was so bad the birds must have gotten knocked down the chimney.
