There are 2 on Rt. 901 on the way from Cressona to Minersville. Two are in Mt Carmel, Harmony, and Black Diamond. Harmony coal seems better, but you can only buy 2 tons per week. I saw a couple on Rt. 54 between Pottsville and Tamaqua. I get my coal at Harmony. $150.00 per ton, all sizes if you haul it.

I believe he is talking about active coal mines and not coal breakers I think anyway There are no mines on 901 or Rt 54
they are coal breakers not mines

Why only two tons per week? Is there a shortage looming? Superior would not allow a tractor trailer load. Remember, I am about 200 miles from the best coal and getting it piecemeal is not an option.

Funny you mentioned that on top of sharp above mine right at the top of the old big ski slope next to the rock cave there was a few of us slamming a few cold ones one night saw the same thing silent right above the tree line very bright lights
above are heads sat there for a few minutes then it took off super fast towards the east there was 4 of us well we stayed until the quarts where gone then went home never told anybody figured they would not believe us anyway Not the first
time there was about 7 or 8 of us out behind Jackson motors up on the big field drinking 1/4 saw the same thing up on top of sharp same spot as before watch it for 15 or 20 minutes but this time it took off towards The indian run dams and it had alot more colorful lights several minutes later a pair of very fast moving Jets headed in the same direction

Did your friends dad have the two shepherds tied up at the entrance one on each side we always had to buy lunch meat at the old Acme to feed them before we went in and always hand to remember to save some when we came out to get passed them Randy bought the mine in 1980 the last time I was in was 78 or 79 we also use to go up to the top of the mountain and go down threw the air fan entrance the fan was ran by a Chevy corvair jacked up on blocks with the fan belt around the rim they use to drive up to the top start the car run the fan before they went into the mine also there was another entrance down from the main on across from the soccer field south side of sharp where the old dry breaker sat also one at 20Th St

North side of sharp and one all the way at the east end of the mountain bunker hill Also across from Randy mine on the indian run side of sharp North side there was a old boot leg hole we use to play in had a old Dodge truck with a tip it on the end the cable was wrapped around the rear rim to move the little coal car up and down the tip it was still up there in the mid to late 90's went up there last summer to see if it was still there and to see if the hole was still oped but everything is gone hole is covered up

Well let's see. The one we saw came from the south side of the sharp and headed west. It was maybe one to two hundred feet above the river and was back dropped against the mountain. It would go slow for a bit and then stop dead. It did this several times and made absolutely no noise. It had different color blinking lights. Perhaps they were mapping minerals or just trying to figure out who bombed this area. LOL. No doggies when we were there. It was a good place on summer nights because we used to crack the doors open for air conditioning. Oh and it was seen before the Bavarian came. We'd buy it at Seiders down the road three qts for a buck. Confirmation of the sighting came many years later but that's another story.

3 for a buck at the beer house remember that well that sighting sounds like the second one I experience the first one on top of sharp was just a real bright light with no sound being we where at the top it was very close right above the trees stayed for a few minutes a took off the second one was much longer and did the flying pattern like you saw and had color lights seen another one this passed July over by tumbling run dams bright orange moved very fast then would stop move very fast and stop all directions seen that for about 10 to 15 minutes then it just took off super fast
