JC is on the money, (wish I would have known about this site way back when I was burning some junk stoves, had lessons learned) when I first got my LCC I loaded it up & just let it burn, I wanted to see just how long it would go.I was amazed when I got up the next morning it looked like there was the same amount of coal as there was went I went to bed. I don't shake it much. I will admit that I have to take a little poker and clean around the outboard grates once in awhile. I shake it down a little at night, replace the coal that was burned and thats about it. I dump my ash pan every other night. Just wondering JC what did you run your stove temp with your MCC ? When it's cold out I run my LCC at 325 - 350 seems to like to run about that temp. Dave
Stove temp depending on what coal I was using anywhere between 475 to 675 stack temp 275 to 300 I also used a magic
heat reclaimer if I turned it off then the stack temps would be 375 450 heating 3140 sq ft 1948 cinder block ranch home
I would stick in 110 to 115lbs of nut and burn between 40 to 56 Lbs in 30 to 40 hrs house temps would be 84 to 89 down stairs 74 to 76 upstairs the floorswere always nice and warm so was the cast iron tub on your A$$ Red Neck hot tub

Thanks for the reply JC. I have mine in the basement also. I have cinder block foundation (full basement) my house is a cape style well insulated but, I have a lot of windows. My house is about the same sq, footage as yours. My basement stays 76 - 80 my living area is 70-72. I ran it up to 400-425 a couple of times but the rooms at the top of the stairs were to warm. Running the stove at 350 my stack temp just about the baro is 170. Thanks for sharing the info. Dave
