This thread is quite old and the original posted hasn't visited since October. There is plenty of search material that may answer yoyr questions but if not ask away and although we don't have this stove, many problems or questions are universal to hand fed stoves.

I also have a Salvo Citation although probably a little older than Spiker's and not as good looking.
I took mine and built a jacket around it to use as an add on to my oil hot air furnace for supplemental heat.
This was in 2004 and I have not bought any oil since.
So feel free to ask questions as i'm shure someone here has the answer.

Hand Fed Coal Stove: Citation coal/wood Salvo mfg. Fall River Ma

Post by Chuckod » Sun. Mar. 25, 2018 10:52 am

I have a Citation coal/wood stove that needs a blower. The blower was missing when I bought the stove. I am having difficulty finding a replacement or a spec. I am unsure if the stove is a Citation or a Citation II. The serial number is 10405. The Northline blower information found in the forum thread no longer works.

Hi All,
Sorry for digging up a very old thread! I recently acquired this same Salvo Citation stove and will be looking to clean it up and install it. Does anyone have the pdf of the instruction manual still?

Thanks!
Mathew

Hi, looking for some info on salvo machinery insert. There is a missing plate in the back of firebox which I believe holds catalytic blocks. In attached picture there are 4 studs where it should attach. Catalytic blocks look like they have fallen backwards and facing the wrong way. I can't find any replacement or specs about this. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

You have the citation C180 coal fireplace insert. There are no catalytic converters on this model. What you should have is a large angled baffle plate that rests on the back edge of the firebox and is held on the top by two pivoting metal retainers. I have the same insert except mine was advertised as a combo wood or coal burning. The only difference is the coal only version has adjustable secondary air. That is the knob on top front. My stove haas fixed secondary air. It is a great heater. I didn’t start my stove until thanksgiving last year and heated my 2000 sq foot New England home with 3 tons of coal and 220 gallons of oil. This year I will burn 90% coal. I have 5.5 tons put away. This was primarily a New England stove. There are usually one or two for sale on marketplace. The stove likes nut coal. No pea coal as it clogs the grates. I am still experimenting with stove coal as I didn’t have the best luck when I tried it last year.

Hi thanks for the reply! Yeah I live in NH. The plate on the back of the stove says it's wI80. And fuel wood. Manufactured 1991. And the guy I got it from burned wood in it since it was new. I also pulled the catalytic converters out of the back. Would you be able to post a picture of the baffel in yours? Or do know where I could get a replacement/have one made? I'm Thinking about installing it as is but would prefer it heating efficiently.
