Ronald Reagan Speaks Out Against Socialized Medicine

Right now H.C. that we have is taking between 17 to 26% of the budget, one of if not the biggest expenses. Jobs is of course a major factor but its hard to create jobs after you have allowed all the manufacturing to leave, right now there are more jobs rebuilding Iraq while the U.S. is falling apart & there are more private contractors in Afgan than U.S. forces & the U.S. tax payer is footing the bill for it all. Greed allowed this to happen to the country plain & simple, allowing people in powerful positions for too long a time. This morning they had the guy that blew the whistle on Maddoff how ever long ago & the SEC did nothing, asked B.M. what was going on, he lied & they were either paid off or too stupid & lazy top follow up, this whole mess might have been able to be avoided if people would only do what they get paid for. Now that I finished that the H.C. mess now is the highest factor to inflation, everything that gets done for free for the scum of the earth is free for them but not for us. So naturally what does everybody do when being paid for by Gov.(us) they raise prices which in turn also raises ours if we should need care. The only control now is the H.C. Industry, even a large part of Medi-care is run by Ins.Co.s, I think its about time for Gov.(us) to have some say.

So how do you think Buffet could control costs? Wage and price controls? How do you figure that will work?

Why not open everything up and let the market figure it out. I assure you, the free market provides an a$$ for every seat. Even Foxwoods Casino installed penny slots to serve an unserved market. ;)

In a country that is $100+ trillion in debt, finding ways to make money shouuld not be a bad thing.

Now in all fairness I listened to his first two things & read his Roadmap for America proposal, it sounds good but does not give any facts on how it would be paid for. I`ll get to the rest when I have time but I didn`t see or hear anything concrete so far. What I did find interesting is that he is a senior member & all of a sudden wants to curtail funding (which is good) but where was he when his party was spending without any form of funding what-so-ever. If your gonna just do more of the talk he should have been doing it all along. I will continue with it but so far he hasn`t said anything but he may have some input farther on.

Well I read it, reread parts, saw nothing that explains where the money for all this will come from or even projected savings if any, it creates more Gov. agencies SS part really scares me, remember S.S. fund was not supposed to be touched either but has been raided almost from the beginning & it does nothing at all for the present with the clause that it has about not holding down spending in times of war or economic down turn. There are quite a few parts that are the same or close to proposed H.C. so maybe there has been some bi-partisn inclusions.

Excuse me? Did you listen to the interview, or are you just repeating someone else's interpretation? I heard him say very clearly, several times, that he would PREFER a DIFFERENT health care bill. But that, given the choice between no bill and the current bill, he would take the current bill.

There are a lot of us that disagree with what has been done but I have yet to hear a rational thought out alternative(by that I mean the consequences of that action). As I often have said its easy to criticize & offer no correct action.

I know that government run-healthcare as Obama has proposed is a bad idea and will not work. If I was smart enough to be able to offer an alternative I wouldn't be sitting here typing this. I think it is OK to disagree without being able to offer a solution.

It doesn't matter anyway, I think the number one focus should be the war on terrorism, all this time and money poorly spent on trying to force government-run healthcare on us will amount to nothing after the next terrorist attack, when all the finger pointing starts and someone asks "Why wasn't the President and the Congress addressing terrorism and national security?".

You are excused but you did notice I put quotes, right? & you did read the politico article I quoted from or at least glanced at it?

"Asked if he would be in favor of scrapping the Senate health care bill, Buffett responded: “I would be.”"

Maybe politico got it wrong.

OK, you tell me how Pelosi is going to pay for it? Add 30 million people and it's all gonna be paid for by some smoke and mirrors magic because the big Bullshitter tells us so. Cut government waste? Cut Medicare? Rob Peter to pay Paul? What a joke. You sincerely think you're right, you're just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Regulating the commerce of health care simply isn't the role of the federal government according to Judge Napolitano. (see the thread bearing his name and view the video). Creating socialized programs isn't the job of the feds. The Constitution precludes socialized programs. They are the realm of the states, if their respective constitutions allow such. Check the tenth amendment.

Ronnie was exactly right about this:
"...majority rule is a fine aspect of democracy provided there are guarantees written in [protecting the rights of individuals and minorities]".

He was describing the republic as defined by our Constitution....and yet liberals on this board have trouble with that! Go figure.

Ronnie also accurately noted that communists, socialists, and liberals are all the same thing. It also includes "progressives". All of them hate the republic because it is the antithesis of their ideology. The greatest threat to our great nation comes from "well-meaning" progressives.
