County has most reported bear sightings in the state
Hungry animals will emerge from hibernation during coming weeks

Wildlife officials are reminding residents to remove bird feeders, and other potential food sources, before hungry black bears emerge from hibernation during coming weeks.

Ashtabula County residents are more likely to see black bears than those living anywhere else in the state, according to Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Wildlife statistics.

Can't you people from Pa. keep your bears in your own backyard. :D

I had three in my back yard a couple years ago, a mom & two cubs but they all had Ohio plates on them so I chased them back. I get quite a few here but so far they haven`t caused any trouble.

I've never seen one here yet. Have found tracks by the pond in the spring.

I live right on the state line so if I got them here you have them as well. Just don`t corner them.

we've got a few lumberin around here--pretty much if we leave them be they do likewise--something is going on in the Adirondacks, building wise or whatever & they seem to be on the move--I shot one quite a few years back in Vt.--deer & bear season overlapped a little(maybe a week)I was waiting for a deer & heard what sounded like a train coming at me-guys on the other side of the mtn. were pushing deer my way & kicked him up-318 lbs dressed out--took 2 heart shots w/ a 30-30--I knew he was dead long before he did,you gotta respect the he!! out of them

There was a story the other day from NJ. A 380 lb bear was in someone's back yard munching on the family's border collie. The border collie's name was "Bear" ...RIP(16 years old). Fish and game tracked the bear which had been denned up under someone's deck. Fish and game said they were going to "euthanize" the bear.
