With the money the state parks themselves make for the state--plus people coming specificly to the parks, spend alot of money on route & at local businesses, resteraunts, hotels, motels, etc patterson has his head so far up his a-- that I don't think he can see the big picture :junmp: Oh,that's right he's legally blind :( at least he's not seeking a new term--I'm hoping people in my area are going to 86 some of his stupid ideas--Jim Seward,Gary Finch---we'll see--don't forget, his budget hasen't passed yet

During the last recession, that was tried here in MA. Reduced hours, etc.... did not work out so well, and the Parks were
re-opened to full time. When times are hard, park use INCREASES. It is state money well spent, unlike tons of other expenditures. Call and write( not email) your local rep, let them know how you and many others feel.

Probably the Chinese are coming over to see their collataral. Remember, how do we barrow money from other countries? With collataral. And what do we have for collataral that the Chinese could want? LAND, just throwing that one out there for yall.

Yep, Illinois did the same thing, too. One of that colossal F-up ex-Gov. Rod Blagojevich wonderfully informed decisions. After he got booted out of office, the State got busy figuring out how to re-open them and yet still save some costs.

It's hard to believe that these politicians will close parks and pull other similar cost cutting moves yet keep useless pork in the budget. Mostly I think they do it to "justify" other things like raising taxes so they can add yet more pork and corruption.

Our entire governmental system is hopelessly screwed up. If the Liberals had their way, the entire country would become employed by government entities. Of course, then there would be no tax revenue to run the government and it would promptly implode, but they aren't smart enough to figure that out ahead of time.

Close a park.................her in Michigan they are tearing apart paved roads and putting them back to gravel. They say it cost 80 grand to repave a mile of black top but only 13 grand to take care of a gravel rd. Now I don't know but I been told that if you build a good paved rd. that it will last for at least 20 yrs if not more............are we subbing out the roads to China also? Gravel from the great wall? Glad things are getting better.

Ginsing and Black Bear Gall Bladders.

Both, ironically abundant on state lands.
