I have the 82 which is the big brother to the 55. They are well designed and efficient stoves. In general the hitzer brand is very good with good customer service and perform as advertised.

I plan to mount the stove in a gutted out gas furnace cabinet. it will sit over the blower and have about 2 in clearance around the sides and the front will protrude about 4 inches. I plan to shroud around the stove where it protrudes from the cabinet to keep the air flow enclosed in the cabinet. The air will flow into a plenum and into the forced air system. Anybody see any problems?

make sure you seal the duct/shroud around the door area so that any fumes/smoke that escapes from the door when open for loading will not be distributed throughout the system.. you are in essence turning it into a handfed furnace. It's been done and usually works well. Forum member/moderator WNY did this to a LL Stoker stove a Hyfire 1.

I think it will work fine. I'd want a bit more clearance between the stove and furnace box myself, but the idea is very sound. What your are doing is just duplicating the F.A. model they sell. I have a home-made heat cabinet around mine, and use an inline duct fan to pull the air through, but what you are doing should work better. Maybe even consider ordering the f.a. I believe they have firebrick up higher for a deeper coal bed, and the setup is a little different with the placement of the thermostat, but it may be worth investigating. Also some brackets may be pre-mounted. Just a thought for you.

Holy thread reserection Batman !

But yes, I think the 55 can burn both bit and anthra ... for those with hoppers, the hopper should be removed.

Yes, there are a few members on here that do so. The folks at Hitzer would be happy to answer any questions you have about the stove.

Thanks Rob, I think I'm going with the WARM morning. It's in really nice shape and a great price.
