Thanks for checking. I am OK, I live on gravel till left behind by the glaciers, so I have great drainage. Plus I do not have a basement, which bugs me when I need access under the floor, but avoids the flooding issue. Local bridges have been closed until they can be inspected, so that I have to take various detours to get around. I saw water bubbling up from manholes and into the streets. I have friends with basements that flooded and are still drying out. In fact, while I have let my stove die with the warm weather we have now, one fellow coal burner kept his stove going because it is helping to dry out his ground floor.

It was an amazing storm and resultant flooding. It will stick in memory and probably show up on the History channel alongside the Hurricane of 38 and Blizzard of 78.

My wife and I stayed up all night during the worst of it, between 2 sump pumps and a wet vac we managed to keep the finished basement from being flooded. It wasn't the first time we had to do this but it was longest time before the water finally slowed down. I shutter to think what would have happened if we lost power. The word generator is now at the top of my list.

I had water coming in everywhere. I have a generator and forgot all about it. Maybe I wouldn't have taken the chance on that water flowing through my breaker panel! :D

A pump and a shop vac kept up with it. I'm trying to improve the drainage by my back door as that is the worst of the problem.

My wife has been out taking pictures and the damage is unreal. My BIL is National Guard and has been on duty all week. He's got some good stories. :) :D
