V.A.T. ... Here It Comes

Looks like the VAT might be here before we know it. You know the Libs in the white house are just giddy about getting this Value Added Tax thing rolling. they also mention that a carbon or other energy tax might become necessary.

Oh boy i cant wait to help fund socialism even more

Volcker, answering a question from the audience at a New York Historical Society event, said the value-added tax "was not as toxic an idea" as it has been in the past and also said a carbon or other energy-related tax may become necessary.

Though he acknowledged that both were still unpopular ideas, he said getting entitlement costs and the U.S. budget deficit under control may require such moves. "If at the end of the day we need to raise taxes, we should raise taxes," he said.

First....

........ also said a carbon or other energy-related tax may become necessary.

Then....

he said getting entitlement costs

A carbon tax will raise the cost of welfare, specifically the LIHEAP program.

This is what they'll do...... Impose the carbon tax but it will be hidden in the bill the consumer sees. own the road they'll blame the big bad oil/coal/utility for such high costs...

I think what needs to be done is any taxes for a product need to be itemized on any receipt you get, then everyone can see who the real crooks are.

That's beauty of the VAT if you are a politician. It's a hidden tax so no one knows exactly how much tax you are paying. Lisa
