im still burning although temps have been in 70-80 for almost 2 weeks ,i know its going to get cold again and have used 0 gas this year and want to keep it that way the gas co came to make sure my meter had not been tampered with ,weve been heating all our hot water and i had to turn the valves off to the furnace coil because weve used a/c last 2 days, but its easier to keep the boiler runing, im burning about 20 lbs of coal a day and havent servicedthe hopper for 15 days she just sits down there and idles plan on shutting down may 1 for the season

I'm still burning. The AA seems happy to make domestic hot water & maybe now & then a bit of heat during the nights. I'm thinking of shutting down for the summer. Maybe another few weeks.

We're still burning. Just idling along and the house is really hot, but it's supposed to cool down tomorrow and I refuse to burn any oil. We'll probably shut down in the next two weeks if the weather stays warm.

Still burning, 25 degrees out, burning much less coal, and I like it, gasoline is at 3.90$/gallon in town, I'm scared to ask about heating oil.

Still burning here in Michigan. The AA still runs once a night or so, and also heats DHW..

It was quite warm last weekend, but has cooled down again, and is below freezing tonight and tomorrow night.. low 40's during the day.
Next week is forcast 60's daytime and high 30's nights.. so i still need to keep the place comfortable..

The AA took 4 days to make 3/4 tub of ashes.. and only burnt about 30-40# per day. Not bad for my place.

I let it go out on April 1, but got a new fire going again last night. Going to be chilly here in central NY for the next few days.

Same here, just in the eastern part of the state instead of CNY.

Burn the bituminous coal all year round for both heat and hot water.

I don't even shut down to clean the chimney,we do it on day that is

planned for a low fire, and then just rev it back up when done, only

take 30 minutes or so.

Now burning with some heat needed at night and early morning, about

30# day.

I'm out of coal :( Got my 3 ton coming for next season tomorrow )My buddy over the hill has a Hitzer 50-93 & said it took his 3 days to die gracefully yet totally--oh my God,does this mean that if it gets cold again,Momma & I will have to cuddle---fat chance  as it was already stated,it's a sad day---actually it was less depressing watching the kids leave as they matured & decided it was time to go out & conquer the world--now that is depressing in this day & age :(

Yeah, I can relate. That's how I felt at the end of last season; my first with the forum. It was much easier this year but not by much. :D I'm already making plans for little improvements that will help me burn coal and distribute that heat better next season and I'll make my first of 5 trips to the coal dealer early next month. I can only carry 1/2 ton each trip, that's ok - the trips keep me connected. Lisa

Lisa,I'm hooked up w/ a program in NYS called HEAP--it's for low income & old people,I guess I fall into both--probably won't be here next year the way this State is going :) Yep,I've got some re-configurin to do--these old farm houses don't have a straight shot anywhere--I'm looking at a couple of wall grates which will be fun w/ most of the walls being lathboard & plaster
