Hey man,
We must be thinking alike! I just got my passport and I'm glad I have it. I've been thinking of New Zealand myself. I'm 52, I don't know how easy it would be to emmigrate to there, they have socialized medicine and I don't know how friendly they are to old Yanks moving in.
I just told my buddy today while we were on a big long anti- Maobamarx rant, if I'm going to live in a high taxed socialized country, might as well be stunningly beautiful New Zealand.

My ex girlfriend lived in Australia for four years and told me a lot about it. She says it's expensive, and a lot of people move around to escape the summer heat. I think some areas have really bad black flies. I checked out some New Zealand websites, including comments by people that moved there from around the world. I heard food is kind of expensive, and internet access is too. I think they have pretty strict gun control.
Also heard people are very friendly there for the most part. There's immigration from Asia and india that the locals don't much care for.

Hey Fred, quit bragging we know you're a stud... :D

Somebody sent me a PM, and said they are staying here and making their stand here. The USA, the last best hope for Liberty.

So I thanked that person for reminding me to think about running away and if that's the right thing to do.
It's too bad it's come to that.

Anyway, I want to make a bumper sticker: "New Jersey, Your Favorite Foreign Country"
or: " New Jersey, Formerly Part Of The United States"

niether do i but if this country turns into a mad max post apocalyptic wasteland - id like to have a backup plan and id like to have given it some thought before the decision is upon me. Things happen very fast. Countries fall overnight - currencies collapse overnight. 1929 happend overnight, Fannie & Freddy happened overnight.

Even the stuff we do see coming is impossible to time.

Im moving my IRA offshore before the One takes it. If I have to Ill take the rest of me offshore.

Yeah, Crazy stuff has happened, and in the not too distant past. didn't Hitler take Poland in two weeks?! I saw a show about The Manhattan Project, and a scientist that got out of Poland. He was in a building, and heard Germans singing something like, "and the Jewish blood shall run from our knives..." He got out to America before it was too late.

So I'll wait 'till I hear some Acorn workers singing, " and the middle class, God -fearing Republican blood shall run from our Marxist knives...' lol

I hope it aint gonna get Mad Max bad!!!

OH and PS,
Along those lines, I know a family that is in the process of moving to Costa Rica. The dad is an upstanding US citizen, who has had a stellar career in the computer field, NRA member. Salt of the Earth guy. They had a farm in NYS that they lovingly restored on weekends over many years. SOLD. The mom is originally from Costa Rica, hard working decent lady. That will be a big help as they move down there. They have two sons, one of them is in training to become a Navy Seal. I would never question his patriotism, it's a quality of life issue for them.

I haven`t talked to my x-brother in law for awhile but he was in the outskirts of Sidney even built a house there then found out how much of his income & retirement they would take & he was gone. Hes been working in S. Africa two weeks on & two off for awhile now, loves that except the Co. has to supply him with armed guards.

I spent about 8 hours one day on Google Earth checking out Australia. Watched a couple off-roaders do a cross-country trip straight through the outback on a pair of XL650's. I was hooked after that!! Awesome land down there! Ford still sells a 300+ hp Falcon down there too-- sounds like they are like we USED to be, before we got taken over by limp-wristed environmental pacifists.

If I ever hit the lottery, that would be my first destination. New Zealand a close second. If I ever left the USA, It'd be to go down under, for sure. Hope it never comes to that ..... but it sure seems possible for the first time ever, though. :(

I've never been there myself but like everything else, it's a mixed bag. I used to work for a company with a decent sized operation there and have corresponded with folks there as well as met a few. They tend to be more socialist than we are and taxes are probably higher too. Cost of living outside of the built up areas is probably low and there are lots of beaches to enjoy. Depends on what irks you most I suppose.

What makes anyone thinks the Auzzies are doing better than we are ? Afterall, I just received an email from a retired money manager in Australia, explaining the situation there :

Hi George.HAPPY EASTER to you and yours.

Her is something you will enjoy............economics explained simply.....................cheers

Subject: Fw: Stimulus Payments

To help you understand “Economic Stimulus

Sometime this year, we Aussie taxpayers will again receive another 'Economic Stimulus' payment thanks to Ruddy Corp

This is indeed a very exciting program, and I'll explain it by using a Q & A format:

Q. What is an 'Economic Stimulus' payment ?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q.. Where will the government get this money ?
A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money ?
A. Only a smidgen of it.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment ?
A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China ?
A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the Australian Economy by Spending your stimulus check wisely:

* If you spend the stimulus money at K Mart, the money will go to China or Sri Lanka .
* If you spend it on Petrol, your money will go to the Arabs.
* If you purchase a computer, it will go to India , Taiwan or China .
* If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to New Zealand ,Fiji and Indonesia ..
* If you buy an efficient car, it will go to Japan or Korea .
* If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan .
* If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.

Instead, keep the money in Australia by:

1) Spending it at Garage sales, or
2) Going to Football games, or
3) Spending it on prostitutes, or
4) Beer or
5) Tattoos.

(These are the only Australian businesses still operating )

Conclusion: Go to a Football game with a tattooed prostitute that you met at a Garage sale and drink beer all day !

No need to thank me, I'm just glad I could be of help.

We all know that won`t work the U.S. has been doing that for years. Then again the football players are over paid & spend their money on drugs & foreign cars, most of the beer is owned by foreigners. Guess that leaves us with just with just getting screwed, bl***, & tattooed at a garage sale.
