I guess the 1st thing that comes to mind is the big bailouts(taxpayer money) that have had basically no transparency or no enforceable oversite--dimes to donuts,I reckon that if that kind of money could be found for them, maybe it could of been better used elsewhere--as you know, just a stupid example, but no COL increase for SS recipients this year but hellashish bonuses for people that seem to have been real instrumental in getting us in this fix,:( --the COL may have only been $50.00 or so,but I'll be damned if I couldn't have used it--for me,it's about his claim of CHANGE--maybe I'm too far down the food chain--but I've worked too hard all my life to get real excited about it all apparently going down the toilet---show me the change--action talks & bullsh_t walks--except in politics I guess

I know what you mean Fred I never even got that small S.S. bonus check. The bailout they had no control over the first part (70 billion I think) that should have been put in there (got to make everything greed proof). I thought it was bad enough when everything had to be idiot proof. I think he had wanted to make things transparent but those D.C. boys aren`t gonna show you where the kickbacks are going. If they could tax the lobby money they might have things half way paid for. What gets me is when they talk about cutting S.S. when thats our money that they blew, but never even mention cutting welfare, a lot of those people never worked a day in their lives. Heck Fred, theres been lots of change it just ain`t been good for the little guy, its gonna take a long time to change the beltway boys club.

HAHAHA I have a claim to fame, I patted Country Joe on the back, after a concert; a couple years later.

Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die Rag
Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way down yonder in Vietnam
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on generals, let's move fast;
Your big chance has come at last.
Gotta go out and get those reds —
The only good commie is the one who's dead
And you know that peace can only be won
When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Huh!

Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow,
Why man, this is war au-go-go.
There's plenty good money to be made
By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,
Just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb,
They drop it on the Viet Cong.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on mothers throughout the land,
Pack your boys off to Vietnam.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate,
Send 'em off before it's too late.
Be the first one on your block
To have your boy come home in a box.

And it's one, two, three
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Things are looking up Fred, the ex-CEO & some others execs from Citibank publicly said they are sorry. Now doesn`t that make everyone feel better, then they got into their limo & were driven to their private jet to fly back to their gated communties to live happily ever after. You just got to feel good about that.

He had a lot of good input, in some ways sided with B.O. & also put a lot of blame on both parties. Didn`t come up with anything real radical, maybe because we`re in so deep now you can`t do anything radical. It was on the Larry King Live show & was hosted by Jessie Ventura.

On DVR, getting set to watch it now.

samhill wrote:Well then would we have been better or worse off if the big 3 and the banks & such were allowed to go under? You remember who started the bail outs before B.O. got there, & that was with no provision for payback, the medi-care bill (which I think was good) except there was no provision to pay for it. One war that was just but never finished, another war that should have never been (both unfinanced), Blackwater & Halliburton no bid contracts non-financed & Cheney is still getting paid by Halliburton. But we won`t want to mention that, the Patriot Act, prisoner torture & building prisons, all guess what not paid for. Now if I were to finance someone to keep them from failing due to mismanagement I think it would be a good idea to have some say on how they do business & get paid back with interest. Once again would we have been better off just ignoring everything? And don`t take this wrong I don`t know if things could have or should have been done a different way but without more information which I`m not privy to I honestly don`t know, I do believe that more than any other time in recent history we needed people to quit petty bickering & work together but both sides choose not to.

BHO sent more troops to Afghanistan, isn't going to come close to pulling "all" the troops out of Iraq, re-upped the PATRIOT Act, Blackwater(Xe) is still getting paid, GitMo is being expanded. And, even if you don't see it yet, we took it in the shorts with this "health care" bill.

Where's that "Change" I kept hearing about?

The health insurance bill reduced the amount you can put into a flexible medical spending account so right there, he increased my taxes and my expenses because I use that heavily.

They tried to eliminate health savings accounts, but instead limited them. They'll kill them off later. So that eliminates a portable, affordable health insurance option for many people, thereby raising the health expenses of those individuals.

And they are going to tax some "non necessary" medical items, up to 20%. There again, he raised my taxes.

Is that the "Change" we were told about?

Unsustainable???it took an old farmer down the road w/ a 5th grade education to point that out to me months ago---cool thing, one of the organizers of Woodstock (Larry Maggett) out of Phila. knew I was a corpsman fresh back from the Nam called & asked me if I wanted to work the Hospital Tent---SURE---they choppered us up to the farm & it's all history from there on.Only one death in the million people there--kid got run over by a tractor in about a foot of mud--other then that, drug overdoses,a broken bone or two & one baby delivery :) It was quite the party--Jimmy Hendrix doing the Star Spangled Banner is the only way to start off the day ;) --oh well, enough reminiscing, time for barn chores---seeee ya

The number of years of book learnin is not an indication of intelligence. I never underestimate an oldster. That old farmer would probably make better decisions than our president.
