After five days off relit, looks like about a five day burn then clean out time. This was my 3rd match of the year, good luck to all.

I relit also...
Testing how the Basement #4 likes Pea coal...
I have very good draft even into the 70* range...
Starting the Pea without using the windowstats too much should be fun...

I thought about it but didn't since I already cleaned the stove and put everything away. I finished the year with 2 matches because I lit early in Oct and then I had to let it go out due to a heat wave in NOV. We made it through the season without having the Natural Gas come on at all. Yeah, us, Yeah coal! Lisa

With the warm early April temps we shut down the Gibraltar DDI. The Jotul 507 had been out since mid March.
After one night without a anthracite stove heating the house (April 2nd), we had to start up Freddy's Jotul 507. 8-)
The Jotul is just the right size stove this time of year heating about 3,000 Sq/Ft. 32* at night and 55-65* day time. Last week we burned 150# of coal......I think we will keep heating for two more weeks or so with coal. It's very hard to give up the great heat.

Keystoker 90 with Coal-trol goes to "sleep" when not needed. I can wake it up with a little nudge of the Coal-trol. Burning coal for 28 years and loving it's entry into the "Computer Age", which is what provides me a living. The coal is the fun side, the "computer" side is the work side. Coal also is me saving MONEY

Both Jotul 507's are still burning at an idle. Have not had to use the windowstats yet. Except for two weeks last August (the green stove had brick repairs) the green stove has been burning all year. The red Jotul has been online since it was installed this fall. If this year is anything like last year, both stoves will be at an idle all year. Warm days and cool nights combined with a house that is a natural freezer dictates a coal stove to be online so one can stand being in the house. Visitors always find it strange when they see the coal stove still running at an idle in mid July. At least I don't have to spend the big money on air conditioning, just a small bit of coal. Since the Jotul is hand fed, no combustion fans, or distribution fans running during the summer burning months consuming electricity.

The KAA2 required 2 matches this year. One in October when it was officially started and one when we had the electrical loss in December and I did not start the generator. We often have nuisance outages that only last a very short time.I was wrong on the length guess in December. I came close to restarting in April but I kept thinking ,how much can this cold weather last.turned out the answer was ,quite a bit.Burned some oil but not significant.Another great winter with coal is in the books and we can't wait to restart fresh this October.

One match...I think it was Oct. 12 when I started. I last added coal on Wednesday night. Its still going this morning. Thats it for the season. I'll start cleaning it out when it goes out.
My stove is in the basement so it keeps the dampness out even when it just limps along. I used 2½ ton for the season as my only source of heat. The wife and I stayed nice and toasty.
