I'll be heading out to Superior early tomorrow morning for 5 tons. I was going to try UAE this year but they are closed on Sat. Glad I called. Superior also closed but they said someone would be there to load me up. I changed last year from a Harman Mark 3 to a Keystoker 90. Burned Superior rice the first year with much success. Any benefit to burning buck? How about 50/50 blend? Any thoughts?

I'm curious as to how you are going to transport it and how far away you are from the mine.

UAE Harmony quoted me $150 a ton picked up earlier this week. What I'm wondering is the transportation costs.

This is my third year making this run. I have a 14 ft. dump trailer max weight 14,500lbs. Trailer weight is 5300lb. empty. I am legal with 9200lbs. on the trailer. Pulling with Chevy Duramax diesel duel wheel pick up. 4 hrs. each way, about 40 gallons of fuel ar 3+ per gal. I end up spending about 190 per ton. I can buy reading locally for 223 per ton but whats the fun in that? I get to pull a big load with my big truck and get good coal for winter.

Thats awesome. Id love to have a trailer like that. I see you say you can legally haul 9200 pounds of coal, how much coal did you actually haul?

I load to about 4 inches from the top of the trailer. Last year was 9700lbs. 500 over. I am anal about my rig. 10 ply truck tires on both truck and trailer. 80 lbs. pressure on the trailer. truck is 70 in the front and 65 all the way across the back. All the lights are good, brakes are good and I tarp the load. And I run the speed limit across the pike. Pullimg 15K my diesel does a real good job. 65mph in 6th gear, cruise on, XM jammin and momma sloppering on a pillow against the other door. I really like to make this trip. I actually look forward to it. I will be leaving at 2AM. Stop for 30 minutes in Breezewood for breakfast and be at Superior at 730AM.

im glad you take care of your trailer and make sure things are done right. Although my trip to UAE isnt as along and I don't have a trailer, just 20 five gallons buckets and a pontiac coal fire I still love making the trip. There is something about driving and picking up your own fuel to heat your house that I just love :D

how many MPG do you get with that load?

We tried buck for one year in a Keystoker 90 but it didn't seem to produce much heat. We didn't get it from Superior though. For our money, we'll stick with rice. Superior rice burned nice in it since we went back.

I got 9200lbs. Superior rice this morning. The guy that loaded me was named Donnie and he said all Superior coal is deep mined. He also said they blend white ash and red ash together.
