State Workers

It all sux,but why shouldn't State Workers co-operate on this furlough deal--my wife will no longer have her job,after 10 yrs,at the cafeteria in the Marathon school district due to State funding cuts--at least the State workers are loseing 1 day per wk. for supposidly a temporary period of time--my wife ends up with No days for a permenant period of time---what's good for the goose,should be good for the gander.My own personal feeling is--take one dead-ass administrative salary compared to the three lowly grunt salaries which would about balance out But,we know that won't happen.God knows,we personally are running out of belt to tighten--I've got no ass left anyway,I'm down to suspenders.Patterson will probably put a new tax on them

Sorry to hear about that Fred. I spoke to my sister in law when I was up your way, she has a couple years to go to retire from being a kindergarten teacher. She feels her job is safe, I hope it is. Her mom is in a nursing home to the tune of 8k$ a month, crazy world.
My friend's mom was a widowed Catholic School teacher for 11 years and was able to keep their household together. They closed the school and now things are tighter than ever for them. In the meantime the Vatican has billions of dollars in real estate and gold and jewels sitting around.....

My sister is a nurse in the state healthcare system and I have two friends who work for the state in the Albany area.

First observation: There are a lot of state workers here in NY.

Second Observation: There are a lot of state workers who don't do squat while their colleages work extra to pick up the slack.

Third Observation: The corruption and waste start with the legislature and spreads throughout the system.

Fourth Observation: State workers are reluctant to give up any raises/pay because the ones who earn it are abused and bitter about how their superiors are mostly political hacks and do-nothings.

Suggestion: Vote the incumbents out. If you keep sending the same people to Albany and Washington you will keep getting the same results.

wlape,I agree w/ you 100% & will definatly be at the polls in Nov.--that is roughly 7 mos away--they are saying that w/ this 4 day week it would come to many millions weekly--monthly,whichever---something needs to be done NOW.I'm personally going to vote for anyone I've never heard of before & have many like-minded friends--then,let the new ones review the state work force,and many other things--and you're right too many of them are BUMS--the buck has to stop somewhere & this has been observed about State Workers for many,many yrs & it's not just NY---there are school districts & businesses where people are all taking pay cuts so that co-workers won't get the axe---that's the real human side of it w/ that 4th observation--it's not just the state,it's business in general,there's slugs everywhere and the State workers aren't any more special then anyone else---you're either part of the solution or part of the problem--I think the general attitude of let the politicians fix it,it what has given them the authority to have us all by the short hairs,there's alot we the voters & citizens can do on our own---people have just gotten real lazy & rather balless.BUT,I still have a problem w/ Moms being Boy Scout Leaders BOY SCOUT--not Brownies or Girl Scouts--I know that I have alot less time left on this earth then alot of people & that's the good news---the bad news is that the legacy I've been working hard for all my life and hoping to leave my kids & grandkids seems to be under the control of others & that sux---but I keep doing what I can,where I can
