Not the book, but real cold temps for 5-11-10. We have had 29* F for the past six hours. This is hard to believe with the Sea Water temp in the 46* - 47* F range.
We have been burning Freddy's Jotul 507 for the past six weeks using about 150# a week. Over the last two days the stove top temp has been 450*.

We had 31 degrees at 6 AM here in NW New Jersey. I'm out of coal for the Alaska but the Harman is burning Harmony nut and keeping us warm. There was light frost here as well.

It got in the 30's here, but no frost. 64F inside, this morning. Decided to 'test' the oil burner. It hasn't run in over 4 years. :D

My condolences. I ran the oil furnace on Sunday just to "test" it as well.

Any open fields we have in the area saw frost this morning, too; none on the cars though. The temps were only in the mid- 40s but there it was. No one on the news called it so it was totally unexpected. I hope the tomatoes and other veggies in the garden make it. I'll definitely cover them tonight.

I turned off the AC a minute ago and flipped on the natural gas. I hated to do it - that makes 10 days total of NG for 2009/2010 heating season. I rationalize it by saying we need to make sure it's operational anyway. :D It's been a weird winter to say the least.

Have a great day, Lisa

Got down to a cool 28' here last night. Light frost on the ground this morning. Keystoker is groaning along using about 1 bucket of coal every 2-3 days. Have rain coming the next few days but a warm up in store for the weekend.

The new windows have made a big difference in the temps. Much more consistant temp throughout the house and stays much cooler when the temps hit the 80's a few weeks back.

We hit 31° last night, but the neighbors said they hit 28° right up the street - could be just 2 different thermometers ...... but either way, the barn roof was white this morning.

Our garden is smoked. I left the plants in the porch last week, thinking it would be a few degrees warmer there than outside. Nope. I'm no Paul Rodgers, that's for sure. Killed them all. Time to start again. Can't leave them in the house, or our cats will have a feast! One way or the other, our garden seems doomed this season!

Hi Bob, 32* F this AM. The Keystoker was a 10 hour drive form the mid coast and I did not get to it fast enough.

We lost 75% of our gardens and we coverd them. The temps had not dipped below 32 for a month. :x
