I have a fireplace I am looking at putting a coal stove into or in front of. The opening is 36" wide and 28" tall and has a 21" hearth. I am looking at all options, and I found this buck stove. According to the dimensions online it should fit partially in the fireplace and the rest sitting on the hearth. Any info on how this stove burns and quality of it? I am looking to heat 2,100 sq ft and only use my electric baseboard as little as possible. Also anyone with a Buck 24 could you measure the overall height to see if I can get the top flue into my 28" high fireplace opening? Thanks

I did a search on Buck 24 coal stove using the search feature in the upper right hand corner and came up with this and a couple of other postings. There maybe something there to help you. If not you could always PM some the members who posted.

cowentz I have a Buck Model 24 Coal Stove. I have been burning it for 2 years now. I heat about 2500 sq. ft. with it. I have no complaints with this stove. The height of my Buck Stove is 34 3/4 " which is from the bottom of the legs to the top of the flue collar. The height of 24 1/16" is with no legs bolted on. ( + 2" for the raised flue collar..... making it 26 1/16" ) The Buck Model 24 Stove is top vented only. Shaking the stove took a little time for me to get used to but got it down pretty good now. I think the Buck Model 24 is well made and throws off some serious heat. Also, the width of the stove is 25" and is 22 1/2" deep. I do have the blower on it and use it 24/7. Distributes the heat better in my opinion. I am very happy with the performance of this stove.
