Will,
I just have to say, all of your stoves; everyone that you've posted pics of including videos are absolutely gorgeous. I've really got nothing more to add to this thread because I have absolutely zero experience with parlor stoves aside from the Chubby that I had at the start of last winter. But I do love the looks of the stoves you have in your stable.

i know............old thread.
but I have a question that might be relevant to others.
how deep is the base chamber on the #6 ? from pics I estimate 4 -6" but i'd like to be more sure than a guess.
thanks,
steve

yep, that would make the cross section of the gas path about 27 sq. in. the c-section of a 6" pipe is about 28.26.
so that's how the gas flow speed was kept up thru out.

But, the back pipe leading to/from the base area is half of a 6 inch diameter. Maybe that's why that vertical length of pipe is so short compared to the lengths of back pipe only stoves ???KingCoal wrote:yep, that would make the cross section of the gas path about 27 sq. in. the c-section of a 6" pipe is about 28.26.

That's not correct exactly. The back pipe is a large oval to accommodate the two chambers. It's roughly 12 inches wide. (sorry can't measure that one too well, the stove is running..)Sunny Boy wrote:But, the back pipe leading to/from the base area is half of a 6 inch diameter. ok then, that would be a c- section of 22.5 sq. in. going down to the 2.25 x 12 / 27sq. in. c - section of the flow path in the base pan and 22.5 sq. in. section going back up. is it true that the #6 has a 5" / 19.62 sq. in. exit collar ?

excellent, thanks for that confirmation.
about your base halves, have you contacted wilson of wilsons woodstoves. he makes replacements for the base pan, maybe he can do the ash pit too.

Yes KC, I've been talking with Wilson. He has the bottom pan all worked out. The ash pit floor is the problem, much more complicated. Mine may be salvageable after a fashion but I'd sure like to find one in better shape.
