Coffee!

PostBy: Freddy On: Sat Jun 12, 2010 6:40 am

Oh My, Really slept in this morning. **yawwn** The Folgers in the pot smells good. Whatya think we should have for breakfast? I'll start pealing potatoes.....
Caught another skunk yesterday. Heheee! I love it when sister in law get's sprayed. Ohhh, I now it's not that funny, but it seems she owes us more than we owe her and removing skunks is the one little thing in life that lets her pay back the favor debt. Well, every once in a while she pays extra and yesterday was one of those days. The little bugger let loose as she approached and some of the oil mist got on Carla. Poor girl.... but if she can smile thought it I feel I can too.
The old saying is : "I treat my wife well. I sharpen the lawn mower blades twice a year." Well, I DO do that, but this week I found a good used commercial Toro 48" Zero turn mower. Back in '06 we bought a "homeowner" Toro Z-turn. It's a sweet machine, but Marty wants to mow more & more & the field is bumpy. The commercial is much better suited for the abuse she hands out to machinery. A few little adjustments a a modification to make it easier to raise & lower the deck & this bad boy is ready to mow. Oh ya, I built a hitch for the back so she can tow her little dump wagon. You'd think she'd be happy as a pig in mud, but she's upset that I won't keep the old one! And, wow, that sold fast for top dollar.
Alrighty! I hope you all enjoy the day! It's going to be a beauty.

Good morning Freddy,

I've been up for a while now so I'm heading back to bed for short nap before it's time to get up. :) We have beautiful weather here in the mid Atlantic states this morning but are told to expect some thunder boomers later this afternoon. Nothing new there. We always expect thunder boomers; that's just a fact of life.

Well, school is almost out around here and then I'm heading down to GA for pretty much the entire summer. My dad's recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and mom and I are going to make some modifications to the house so he can stay home a while longer. Fortunately, my sister lives in the area and will see to the daily needs.

Today, I'm going to get the rest of those bricks I've been recovering from the neighbor's, there's not much left. Maybe we can actually get started on the patio sometime this summer.

I hope everyone has great weekend and don't forget to use the sunscreen. Take care, Lisa

PS Freddy did you get my PMs about the ash pan? Do I need to resend them?

Morning all, Time to make the coffee. Freddy, how about some Corned Beef Hash for those potatoes?

Nice Toro. I wish my Z-T had a ROPS, so I could mount headlights. I always seem to be mowing until its too dark to see, then I have to stop. I've been sharpening my blades every 2 months. The field clover is hard on the cutting edges.
I mounted a 2" reciever on the back of mine, so I could move around my log splitter and trailers. Also got a nice wide, heavy-duty 4-wheeled cart that I can pull the kids around in.
Have a good one...

Not my world F-Fred, it's Chris that likes to mow at night. With this rig he could mow all night and keep all the cridders from a good night sleep. :D

Nice looking mower Freddy. Is that one a diesel or gasjob?

Cold, damp, and rainy here...I've had a few cups of 8 O'clock coffee, and still don't feel like doing much.
In my fourth season of burning coal, heating a 100 yr old home with a big hand fed boiler...soon to be a stoker.

Wow everybody's into something productive, and not one mention of anthracite yet! I'm finishing a job out Chris' way today, scenic Holland Twp. near Pittstown. Glad I have a reverse commute, Rte 78 W is crazy crowded at 5PM. A couple long hard days this week as I tried to apply Drylok to a big basement. Very nice little old lady customer, a widow. These are Italian -Americans who came to this country, worked hard, and built their dream house to retire in, in this beautiful idyllic setting. Hard working family of farmers and tradesmen, not looking for any redistribution of wealth.

On top of that I promised my other customer I would mow his lawn and didn't get to it until 6:30PM. That's the guy with the mouse nests in the machines, I got there and found what looked like new construction in the motor again. Went back home, got a compressor and tools, popped the engine cover, blew out the grass, and mowed the guy's lawn. They had complained that the blades were dull so I jacked the machine up and sharpened the blades with a Dremel. Zipped right through three little sharpening stones but hopefully they won't bitch about the favor again. On top of that the guy fired his pool guy and wants me to take care of his pool. I don't want to turn down any work, but have to learn the basics of pool maintenance now!

We'll be telling our kids how we remember when immigrants had to work .... and actually wanted to become citizens! :o

I knew I shoulda bought one of those zero turn mowers back when I bought my G110. My whole mission was to mow at 20 mph & be done in 30 minutes vs. 2 hours, if I let the grass go too long. I was told they don't hold up as well as a garden tractor? I guess it depends on how you treat them ....... so I guess I should stay with my tractor!

Chris, if that thing has a charging system, you could tap into it to power some lights. You probably wouldn't be able to run a pair of 100W halogens (doesn't hurt to try though - as long as you have a charger), but at least something in the 50W range would work. Lights don't care if their powered AC or DC - as long as the voltage is regulated - so there's a couple different ways to hook them up.

Still pluggin' away at the RD. Got quite a bit done this week. Even managed to get my brothers DR running! I took Greg's advice & pop started it down the hill a few times ... then after my lungs said "no more of that *censored*", I kicked it over (after draining the carb first) & it started second kick! Must've been stuck exhaust valves. Going to do another leakdown on it to verify. Needless to say my brother decided to hold onto it. That's project #2 for me. Gotta clean the carb, check the intake valves, & install a speedometer/tach/computer on it.

But back to the RD. Paint, CHECK! Fork rebuild, CHECK! All that's left now is stem bearings, wheel bearings, front tire/tube, some minor wiring repairs & installing decals! Oh, and install the freshly shaved heads ... :punk: :dancing:

Not a spot on the floor! That's quality right there. 8-)

Most painters nowadays find it acceptable to paint over the trim, & the floor while painting walls ...

Looks like yard work all around. Too bad my rider isn't any where as nice as that Husky! I'd have to move in to a new neighborhood to justify that thing! :D

Just came in for my second cup of rocket fuel then back out to finish mowing before lunch and then off to the kids T-ball game.

Then something with my mother in law. My wife has told me twice but there's just something about the phrase "And then you'll meet up with my mother...." that makes me go deaf. ;)

Everyone have a good day and be safe on those hot rod lawn machines!

Good afternoon everyone,, yeah I NEED that coffee,, but I think I need it intraveinously.. ever see the Mr Coffee with the IV attachement??  . I've just got home to the farm after flying all night and hitching a ride on Delta back to Detroit, then an hour drive home..

My trim guy finished the cove on the top of the kitchen cabinets, and put on the toe-kick trim.. it looks pretty nice. I'm sorting more slate for the breezeway.. it's going to be just a standard square pattern.. should only take a day to put down, and half a day to grout.. we'll see.

I need to clean out the family room, and get started on the wood floor,, I'll post photos as I go..

I'm hoping to see the stair railing in a week or two.. then the rest of the carpeting on the stairs and balcony.

Sanding, staining and finishing the windows and doors is also a big item on the 'list'.

Well can't sit still too long, or I'll pass out too early in the day,, trying to stay awake till at least 9 pm.. another 23 hour day..
