2.9%/law or 2.5%/ Amendment?

2.9%/law or 2.5%/ Amendment?

PostBy: VigIIPeaBurner On: Sun Jun 27, 2010 10:49 am

Anybody been following NJ's fiscal mess and the suggested ways out of it? Gov. Christie is proposing a stricter version of MA's constitutional amendment with a 2.5% cap with a minority over-ride rule plus a 'tool box' full of other stuff. Even if it does make it onto the ballot, the Gov doesn't get to wright it. Sweeney and Oliver have a vote coming tomorrow (6/28/10) in the Senate on their law version at 2.9%, it's already through the Legislature, that doesn't include controls on pensions and other stuff.

Funny how that dem official thinks MA isn't as "homogenous" as NJ. He obviously has never been to Fall River ... or Crack St. in Lowell.

I saw a political commercial last night- against this. It showed a group of police officers disappearing one by one; and violent gang graffitti appearing on a school wall in the background. I guess the message was the home owners of NJ should be delighted to be paying $10,000/yr. property taxes, while crime increases anyway. Wow what an incentive to stay in Hell Jersey.

None of the organized groups are liking either of the options. Can't totally blame them but something has to give - we have. This whole pension thing has been circling the drain for years. Whitman really whacked it back in the 90's when it seemed the pension program would go Godzilla on it's own and wouldn't miss the pound of flesh Whitman took.
