Great White, not the band

First MA Great White sighting of the year...

The crew of the Sweet Dream III spotted the shark Saturday while fishing on Stellwagen Bank about 25 miles off the coast.
The crew got video and photos of the shark and an expert confirmed that it was a great white. They also tagged it.
Greg Skomal of the state Division of Marine Fisheries said it was the first great white sighting off the Massachusetts coast of the year

None down by Lighthouse beach in Chatham like last year yet...
But the big guys love seals and Monomoy has thousands of them...
I feel bad for the lifeguards on the jet ski patrol in the cut...
Might be mistaken for a snack...

Yeah they're pretty much blacklisted from the area after the RI incident. Knew a couple people who died that night ....



As for the sharks .. with any luck, the *censored* I was following today on Rt. 20 - that wouldn't move into the right lane, OR speed the hell up - will take a nice long swim out there soon. He & all the other left-lane slowpokes!

My brother & father were just out on Stellwagen a few days ago. I've been waiting to see one on our outings. As long as I'm not swimming with them, it's alright by me!

Near Shore, feeding on seals...

A great white shark was seen feeding on seals very close to the shoreline in the area of Nauset Beach in Chatham this afternoon, according to a press release from the Chatham harbormaster's office.

The sighting of this shark occurred approximately two miles north of the inlet formed by a storm in April of 2007 and was deemed "credible" and "confirmed" by town officials.

Surprised PETA isn't out there having a candlelight vigil for the deceased seals .... PETA , together with desperate politicians praying for a vote ...

Where there are seals.....there is good eating! I would be surprised if there is not an incident this summer. Kayak would be my guess.
