Good morning! I smell waffles. Fresh strawberries & real whipped cream to go on top. Yummmm Come on in, have some!
I've been thinking of filling the coal bin. Mights well do it before Fall. If I don't do it while it's hot & sunny I'll end up doing it in the rain this Sept. I gotta get hold of my new found friend with the AA 130. See if he got it all ready to go for this winter. We got it running a bit at the end of the season, but it needed some attention. Sitting for 30 years or so didn't do it much good.
Cap....glad your "fast incoming tide" story had a happy ending. There's a cave in Acadia National Park that can do the same thing. After years of rescuing people they took down all the signs & now unless you know where it is you won't find it. As a matter of fact, you can stand 30 feet from it and never notice that it's even there.
Lisa, gosh, glad you didn't need a life preserver for that leaky pipe. It could have been so much worse! What made it give way? Certainly didn't freeze! Was it copper?
Greg, you're not going to know what to do when your addition is complete. What a project! It's been fun watching it come along.
Smitty... RD got 500 miles on it yet? Heeheee!
I have to build a small sign frame for a customer. The sign is 2' by 4'. They want a steel frame made of 2" square tubing, and wanted it made from stainless steel....that is until they found out the cost! Woohooo! To do it in stainless would have been an extra $300! So, mild steel and black paint it will be. Perhaps I'll get it welded today. Finally, after years of running a giant extension cord from the garage to the house I buried a 6ga copper wire from house to garage & now the welder can plug in right there.
Hope you all have a super weekend!

Good morning all,
You are spot on about the pipe Freddy, it could have been so much worse. The pipes are copper and the weld failed at a junction. Don't know why, the house is somewhere around 40 years old; DK says it happens. We are still drying the crawl space out so we can replace the insulation and repair the drywall. The humidity accompanying the heat isn't helping in that respect. The dehumidifier is pulling out incredible amounts of water from under there.
Not much else going on around here. We are deep into the heat, humidity and hazy season now and looking forward to the "coaled" season. Take care, Lisa

Hi everyone,
Just a quick breakfest for me freddy, not much time. Preparing for a wedding, Fellow coal member Riceburner78 is getting married to my cousin. So yesterday my wife was helping set up the reception hall. Us guys were trying to help, but you know how that stuff can go, so all men got orders to leave and let the decorating to the women . It is going to be a hot one again and the wedding is outside, but atleast afterwards there will be plenty of cold refreshments at the reception. I had one idea I said instead of throwing rice at the end of the wedding, we could throw "Rice" coal nice and oily, the bride to be was not to ammused . Serioulsy though it should be a great day and I wish them the best of luck for a great future.
Everyone else on the forum have a great weekend and stay safe.
Have a great day, Eric

Good morning, I guess. This past week we had rain. I measured about 4.5” since last Friday night. This Friday at 10:00 am a county burn ban went into effect. Government at all levels drives me crazy, a month and a half of no rain to speak of and they ban burning the week it rains. Speaking of rain, the garden loved it as did most of the plants and trees, unfortunately my field of weeds that doubles as a yard has awakened and needs to be cut to a uniform height. What a summer so far, my blueberries are almost all picked as are the red raspberries and the encore red raspberries are blooming and starting to set fruit for their late crop. As a kid I remember picking strawberries on the 4th of July but this year they were long over by then.
As far as other interesting events my wife called me yesterday about 4 in the afternoon to say she has a foot infection and has to go to the ER because her doctor is not in. 8 o’clock last night she calls me at home to tell me she is getting admitted for a few days. What a weekend this will be. We had errands to do today some she was to do and some I was to do, now I have to do them all and get out to the hospital this afternoon to see what’s going on. She is diabetic and has an infected foot and that is not good. I hope this wakes her up because she knows she is diabetic but does not monitor blood sugar and eats candy and drinks sugar water as if she had no problem at all. I will point this out on occasion but try not to nag her about it because change has to come from within, if I keep on her about it she would probably eat more sugar as a conscious or subconscious way of saying “don’t tell me what to do”
I hope everyone else has a good weekend and new week ahead. Work safe and play safe.

Good morning everyone. Hot REAL coffee and leftover pizza for everyone. Lisa, I am also looking forward to coal season. It's warmer here than in the Philippines only without the pollution. My basement flooded not much during the storms last week and with this humidity it won't dry out. I am looking forward to trying my ST8-VF8 out. However the grate is warped and will need straightening as I can't afford the $600.00 to upgrade it to a Magnum. One day I will. I guess being a girlie man isn't as easy as I thought. Good news about the oil well. What a mess that was. Well folks, I have to go to my mother's house for more refurbishing. Hopefully within a month it will go on the market but after Chris sells his so there won't be any competition.

Good morning!
Looks like I'll be outside most of the day cutting the field of weeds I call a yard, supposed to be 90 degrees today.
I can hear the EFM calling from the cellar, hopefully I'll be starting the installation soon.
Have a good day, everyone.

Morning--outstanding Freddy--strawberries & REAL whipcream--so much for my girlish figure spent most of this week running an old Bolter(sp) blade saw mill that one of the new Amish families has--what a beast--has a 200 horse Detroit diesel running it---that makes 8 families in Freetown alone--more in surrounding Towns--they are all referring to me as The Indian, hopefully not being confused w/ all those AOL employees all need either machine sheds, houses or barns put up plus putting up hay on the side, corn is looking real good after a dose of round-up--what a thrill watching these old run down farms being brought back to life---geeeeeze,why do I ache--ohhhh,that's right,I'm not 20 anymore---this week-end is going to be a laid back one.Momma goes in for knee surgery Wed.--just a scraping--orthoscopy????Have a good week-end all

Good morning to everyone. I have to go get my first cup yet..
I'm not at home.. took last week off from the house project, although there were guys working on it all week.
I'm in Rochester Minn. At the Pierce Arrow Society national car-meet.. We've had rain, and hot weather.. This morning is the car show, and judging. I'm one of the judges, and we have a judge's breakfast and rules meeting this morning, from there I have to get my car to the show field. My car is not to be judged, it is a 'driver' car.. not restored well enough to be judged.
Glenn, I hope your wife's foot is ok,, diabetes and foot infections are not a good thing..
Take care.

Hello Listers-
Quiet week, work wise & home. Much needed rain arrived as Glenn stated. My lawn is 50% dormat. That's ok, I know ity will come back in the fall. I had planned climbing to the top of the APP Trail this morning in search of the wild blueberries but now I wake up feeling like a zombie and can't get in gear! I hate this feeling when this happens. Coffee not helping. I have diabetes too, the type 1 variety and it tends to affect me from time to time with this lousy & weak feeling. And I keep good control too. It's an on going battle. Glenn, is she a type 1 or 2?
Well off to Rochester Sun eve for a long week in training at the home office. I'd prefer to work on the job in the field rather than sit in a small classroom for five straight days. Brutal! Speaking of work, yesterday I had an unusual call. I helped a small municipality repair a plugged fresh well water valve a few miles into the forest west of State College. Basically, back in the sticks! But we fixed it and they are happy. They had pointed toward my electric actuator as the culprit but the problem existed in the hugh plug valve. All in a day's work. Right! Take care everyone.

Bought my final cube of 8" concrete block for my outside coal storage shed. Footings are done and my next step will be to find a block mason. It's just under 150 sq ft, three sided with a roof. Full to the top it would hold about 20 tons. Mixing concrete even with a one bag mixer is hard work, for this old man. But I got it done, doing two batches (6 cu ft) a day. Ended up mixing about a yard and a half total. Glad that's done. Unloading and stacking block isn't as easy as it once was either.

I have noticed the same thing. I suspect that the government has inflated weight too.Yanche wrote:Unloading and stacking block isn't as easy as it once was either.
Morning all. Maybe iced coffee for me. I just got done mowing the grass. Taking advantage of the cool morning hours is a necessity in this hot weather.
Getting ready for our barbeque today. If your in the neighborhood, stop on in.
Next week is our Open House (the 25th) if anyone is looking for a well-maintained 2800 sqft house in Hunterdon County. Heres a link to pictures of it...

Waffles were a great idea Freddy. Had a couple my self. No whip cream. My son's gf suggested peanut butter and maple syrup. I took the stack a step further - bottom one as described but the top one was topped with my favorite, peanut butter and HONEY. What would you expect from a former beekeeper?
Got my own project going on here too only I'm not soloing. I know I'd get into trouble if I'd tried it myself. Putting in a GP Powerelam beam under the Vigilant and the laundry room. When the general contractor built this place, there was a lambeam lying in the yard he said he didn't need. RIGHT
Off to work in a few hours. Good thing for AC in the workspace
