My heart cries for you and your family; words can't convey the sorrow I feel at the loss you have experienced. I am grateful that parents such as yourself are raising young men who are willing to put their their lives on the line and fight to insure this country will exist unmolested. I pray I can live up to your example as I raise my son.

I too find comfort in burning coal. It's no secret I feel that this country is heading for hard times and we as individuals aren't going to be able to control a lot of what's coming. I can however control the fact that my family will be warm when the winter winds blow at the door. I can make sure my heating dollar goes to benefit the US economy and not some middle eastern nation who may not have our best interest at heart. I find comfort in knowing that by Sept I will have enough coal on hand to carry us through the coldest winter days. I am blessed beyond believe.

My thoughts and prayer go out to you and your family as you face the trials of your day. God bless, Lisa

I couldn't come close to expressing myself regarding your son as well as Lisa has. Please accept my simple but deeply felt condolences.

Quite directly, I use coal for those same reasons alone. I feel it's our responsibility to use what is locally available, be it coal of local availability, wood or now natural gas. We spend immeasurable precious resources for items at prices that don't reflect the true cost. I must admit I do use a bit of oil to heat my house with my current set up but most of that comes from the North American Continent. Most of my heating dollars go to the system that provides PA coal to my area and that part I'm happy to use as my main source of heat.

Glad to hear you found more than BTU value in this source for heating. I wish others would be willing to do the little extra work to do the same.

Where in NJ are you? - PM me ...

Thank you to your son for giving the ultimate sacrifice for us to be able to meet and talk freely about our likes, dislikes, worries, and proudest moments.

Coming from a childhood of burning wood as much as possible to burning coal after a 20 something year absence I understand your feelings towards it. There's just something special peering into those red hot coals that takes you back to better, less strained times in your life.

Peace be with you and your family.

thanks for the replies im not good with the key boards but lisa and all of you warmed our hearts. We live in Union Beach NJ and without the support of our small town I don't know how we could continue.I don't mean to come here to vent .But some times I think the general public forgets we have a war going on and that with a knock on the door famlies lives are changed forever.

Your son was a true American Patriot. Thank you for raising a son that put the needs of others above his own. I also thank him & the countless others who have kept this country safe and secure for nearly 3 centuries. I am terribly sorry for your loss. God Bless you & your family.
