Up in Maine at least for my area Downeast, its $325 a ton for bagged. There are only two suppliers and one delivers for free if you buy 2 ton and up, the other is 325 plus a delivery fee and mileage! Sheesh. Still better than oil by a mile and although its about the same as I'd pay for a truckload of tree length logs,(3 tons) it doesn't count my labor sawing splitting and seasoning all summer then stacking in the barn.

I stopped by Hegins and Sherman today. Hegins 155/ton and Sherman 162, both picked up rates. Sherman claims they do not mix coal from varying suppliers, Hegins readily admits they use coal from multiple places.

Any body use either before?

Just bought a ton of buckwheat from Shermans a couple of weeks ago to test burn in my AA. Short test burn seemed just fine. Will test burn some of it in my Keystoker in another week or so. Sherman also told me that they stick to the same sources for their coal to help maintain some quality control.

Just picked up a ton of loose Blaschak last night for $235/ton, price if you take it bulk with your own bags or trailer, $240 if he supplies the bags. Seems it's the trucker that keeps jacking up the price rather than the supplier, & the trucker hauls clay back so no empty runs. Still for being on the western Pa./Ohio line it doesn't seem too bad.
