Looking for some contacts to purchase anthracite rice coal from. (Bag or bulk) I'm located in S W Vermont and have need for about 10-12 ton per year. Thank you for recommendations.

Sperry, are you looking to get a tractor trailer load or just 10-12 tons?

Robert,
I have 6 ton already this year so i'm thinking a truckload is too much for now. Seems like that maybee the way to go. In the past I have purchased from local dealer (cambridge, NY) and need to sharpen my pencil on future purchases. What do you recommend. Thanks

If you want the best pricing, a truckload is the way to go. Where in SW VT are you located?

150.00 per ton today at Premium Fine (picked up). Nice people, very helpful. First time using their coal, always used Blaschak in the past, but Premium was 30.00 a ton cheaper so i figured i'd give them a try. Anyone else using Premium Fine?

Just called a couple of places in my area for quotes. Prices below are for anthracite rice coal, loose/bulk. Both places will deliver it bagged for $7 per 50 lb bag. Bagged price delivered beats my local hardware store picked up ($7.75).

Recommended by my stove dealer...he had no knowledge of their pricing, just told me several of his customers were happy with this supplier.

$205 / ton for nut picked up at Reese's just outside of Quarryville, PA for "hard" coal (Blashak?) and $195/ ton for "not so hard" (Sherman?). "?" because Ben wasn't there to load and person loading wasn't too sure.

yup, good wv bituminous. 5-6 ton in WV should do it for the year. warm morning stoves do a pretty good job with bituminous coal. Chimney kit???! - yea, it's call a couple bags of mortar, cement chimney blocks, a few tile liners, and a few of your dumber friends (to mix the mortar and general "go-fer" work) and about one weekend of your time. You'll save tons of money, it will look better, and last more than 3 years, unlike stainless.

I apologize, I was replying to a post that I have now realized was on the first page of this thread.

But, yes, you can burn bituminous in just about any coal stove with varying results depending on the design of the stove and particular bituminous you are trying to burn; but you cannot use a gravity hopper.

Thank you, I do realize that I cannot use the hopper, but was not aware that I could burn bituminous coal. Plan on burning Anthracite, only bituminous in case I run out and cannot get any anthracite .

Also I would build another flu, but I would have to tear this one down...really not wanting to tear down a flu with nothing wrong with it. Other than the inside size. Also this is the only place I have to put the stove. :(
