Probably about the CT-DEP regulation of less than 1% sulfur. Coal with a sulfur content higher than 1% may not be sold as fuel in CT.

Had to go down the basement & look at my newest bags, nothing new on them, it could just be that I have old stock but my point is how would the breaker know where the bags are going to just put something on Connecticut coal, maybe a sign at the coal retailer in the state?

What's the problem? Anthracite is less than 1% sulfur. At least according to the posting by Pine Creek Co.

See:
PINE CREEK COAL CO

They claim their coal sulfur is 0.70% max. Which is below the 1% requirement. Also the Conn. standard does apply to equipment below 250,000 BTU/hr. I guess you will have to sell your AA 260 and get a AA 130. :-)

No problem, anthracite is the only coal legal to burn in CT as noted in the regs.

Freetown,I was off line for awhile and what a hornets nest !!! though it is nice to see some activity on the Conncticut forum.

Just looked at my Blashak bags from 2 years ago and some brand bags received a month ago. Both say the same thing:

"This anthacite meets or exceeds all specifications for standard antracite including those specified by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Standards pertaining to undersize and ash Tel (570) 773-2113"

The note is printed in small black letters on the extreme bottom of the front side of the bag where Santa smiles.

Do all bags have this regardless of what state they are delivered to?

Your right, cost me another trip down the basement but both my old & new bags have the same statement, I never bothered to look at the front. I didn`t think they would have any way of knowing which state their coal would end up in.
