It's my own fault for over firing the stove. Other than the steel hopper ring , the rest of the stove looked good as new. That's why I questioned wether or not your steel bar was cut out on purpose. Last fall , I did replace the gaskets on the front door , as well as the hopper door. Hope this helped.
I have a new hopper ring on its way. I removed mine and decided to have it replaced. Yeah the inner steel bar was bowed inward. To bad they couldn't weld this inner steel piece in the middle or better yet all the way across. Doing this though might prevent the hopper boot to fit snug up against the bottom of the hopper. There must be away...

I also will be replacing the gasket around the hopper door. I just hope the two nuts will thread off the screws easily. Mine looks buggered up a bit and could foresee the bolts twisting off and snapping.

Were you experiencing the coal burning up into the hopper, thus the reason why replacing the hopper gasket? First time doing this since you owned the 50-93?

O.K.,now I've got something to ponder!Just picked up my used 50-93.I replaced the grate frame, both grates, welded nut-drilled & tapped shaker handle so it won't wobble all over, new gasket on glass & new hopper boot, new firebrick.I'm thinking the stove is like new.The guy had bought it 6 yrs. ago--the back plate says it was tested in April 1993.I don't see anything that even resembles a ring in my hopper set up--am I missing something :?: :?: Freetown-Fred
