For those who may be interested I think this stove is from the former poster from China.
I do not think it is ready for prime time.

This design looks like the same guy that was on here the year before last with a Chinese design with a "pot". Assuming this is true, I give him some credit for continuing with this contraption though I'll offer that while a design can have a patent, a patent does not impy ease of use...for instance,go to Ebay and review the bottom links above the series of pics that run across the page bottom. One of these links shows the burn pot design. How is the ash shaken and removed.
He may not also realize these stoves need to pass certain stove cert tests to get them installed in this country.
The stainless he used may be worth more than the asking price!!

Also just realized that he was very interested in finding a US company that was intrerested in his design which of course will be manuf in China due to low cost outsourcing.Ebay gives mass marketing to the world so he seems determined, good for him though his design seems to have some functional issues IMO.

He might have something there, if China is anything at all like the U.S. if you come up with a idea & produce a few some big company just might buy you out.

In the photos it looks like he has an ash drawer under the grates, but no shaker mechanism. He suggests a blower to move the ash into the ashpan. His drawings indicate the combustion is directed out the bottom of the burn chamber, but looking at the photos it seems the ashpan would be in the way.
Anthracite coal can not burn fully to ash, in turn can not drop to ash pan automatically. You need to shake the grate regularly, say every 4 hours. Even in this case it is better than handfired coal stove.

He had listed the stove on ebay awhile back. and yes it does apprear to be the same person who posted on this forum last year. He makes no mention of fire brick, cleaning, shaking or anything else. As I remember the last time he listed it on ebay, he didn't get any bids on it. I don't believe he will receive any this time around. I have seen some good designs for coal burning come out of china, however, this does not look like one of those. Does anyone know how his stainless will hold up to burning coal against it, especially his grate design. I wonder if he has ever heard of using cast. Just my two cents.

While pretty much a rank beginner I can't think of one reason to get one of those specially at that price point when I can get wonderful well designed used stoves here state side!!

I'd be scared to light it in the house!

Maybe I could convince one of my neighbors to light it up in their house!!Wood'nCoal wrote:I'd be scared to light it in the house!
The neighborhood would be a lot quieter after that maybe with a lot less stuff going "missing"!!

That's it! Looks like I can finally replace the AA-130 with something a bit more sensible.
BTW, did anyone notice a UL approval?
