Coal maps ??

Coal maps ??

PostBy: ktm rider On: Fri May 04, 2007 3:44 pm

I own a 76 acre farm and in 1978 my grandfather mined some of the coal off of one side of the property. He also had some exploratory drilling done for coal on the other side of the property. I know he hit coal but I don't know how much. I have been searching for a way to find these drilling records but I haven't had much luck.
These records have to be out there somewhere. I tried the Maryland Bureau of Mines but they are of no help at all.
Anyone have any ideas where I could start looking, places to call, research online?????

Coal Berner,

Great idea ! I would have never thought of that. I was looking more towards the Bureau of Mines side of it. I doubt that it will tell me how much coal is under my property but it most likely will tell me what company did the drilling... Then I can go from there....
