Cayuga Co. has the tax but the next county over (Oswego Co where I bought baggad coal) there is no tax. Cayuga Co. started the tax on heating fuel around 10yrs or so ago.I'm not sure about Onondaga or Wayne Co.

I just called my dealer, is $297 for a pallet of bagged Blaschak nut, picked up. Just under $5 a forty lb. bag. Still a lot cheaper than propane. :D

Last winter, Feb '07, I paid 4.80 for 40 lb bag. Early fall of '07 I paid 5.00. Late fall of '07 I paid 5.10. I buy one skid at a time and in a week or 2 I'm gonna need another skid load. Hopefully he doesn't raise the price again. But, still can't complain.

Another guy and myself have been kickin' around the idea of making a coal run to Pa ourselves or paying someone to get us a truck load. We haven't done any calculations yet or researched sources yet to find out if it's worth it. Probably look into that this summer.

Are you buying a 23 ton load from them?

Do you know anyone who has?

Working out the details. We won't buy until mid 2008. I'm hoping to get quotes from several brokers.

Mike, you don't want Jeddo, unless you can be guaranteed to get the good stuff from them. I have bought Jeddo coal from a retailer in Northern Indiana. He sells 99% to the Amish in his area. He sells about 1200 tons per year.

Because of the rocks, sticks, and lousy regulation of the size of the coal from Jeddo, he bought a dirt shaker to shake out the small junk and sticks from the coal. His customers were upset that they were paying for small coal that fell through their grates, and the rocks and slate that didn't burn.

This year he has switched to a different supplier, just because of the quality.

However, forum member coaledsweat just bought some Jeddo coal that is very good, I guess it's just a gamble. I like Heggins coal and Superior. Hegins $132.50/ton and clean nice coal, Superior is $140/ton.

I'm with greg on this one you don't want jeddo. My family bought from them for many years and last fall when I bought it was some of the best stuff I ever burnt low ash almost as clean as deep mined. This spring when I got first load looked good I went back for another load got it home and I had to screen the whole ton and a half because of nut coal mixed in and as well as lots of barley or smaller plus sticks, rocks, weeds and dirt. Some of the wifes relatives got some of the same a few weeks previous so needless to say I don't see myself going back anytime soon. A few of the coal men In my area carried jeddo and are now getting from other sources like superior and hazleton shaft because of problems and customer complaints.
