They are probably short on stock and will keep it for their larger customers and/or comapnies they have contracts with. Happens all the time when you get cold snap like this, all of sudden people realize they have no coal or begin to worry about it and everyone calls and you have a run on the stockpiles. There was an article published in the paper a few years back where a lot places south of the valley were really running low and they published that coal was in short supply. It took one week and everything was wiped out, uneeded too as there was plenty of supply until that was published.

Makes sense to me. One dealer I talked to said he contracts to buy all he can from Blaschak. Tractor trailer load every other day and he'd take more if they'd sell it to him. Sounds like a lot of coal to me!

I called all over today (1/22/08), here's the rundown on Blaschak bagged rice coal per ton in 40 pound bags: North Main Lumber (HEP) in Wellsville $294/ton, Worth W Smith in Olean $250/ton, Bunky's in Cuba $242/ton, DeLongs in Little Genessee $239/ton. Everyone I called said that Blaschak raised the price just recently so they can't sell it for $200/ton anymore in the bags. Bunky's is $205 bulk. The Amish are probably cheaper but they don't have a phone # so I didn't get the price.

Just had some delivered from Blaschak yesterday down here in Southern Schuylkill County, PA. Cost was $160 a ton + delivery. That's $25 a ton more than the stuff another guy gets up in Hegins. Not sure if there was a price increase, or if Blaschak is just a little more expensive. First I'm trying Blaschak, hope the reviews on their coal hold up. I just put in a coal stove a couple months ago and I've been burning Reading Anthracite and it seems to have a lot of slate or shale in it. Looking at the other prices being paid, I'm glad I live near the coal!

That’s right on the money according to the last check I did
Blaschak Coal has always been more than most others, I'm sure it can be debated if it is worth it or not or does the coals quality warrant the premium price / label . I feel it is well worth the extra couple bucks, it is the most consistent trouble free Coal I have ever used . My older Victory 700 and occasional marginal draft chimney do not like the less expensive pure Red Ash Coal it can just not burn or burn slow now the Harman at my Moms or any stoker for that matter could care less whats coming down the grate with the exception of rocks and in it I use the $130 Harmony coal I get eight blocks away, it's great, low ash lots a heat and cheap, but for my place I drive the 16mi and fork over the cash for Blaschak .

You got it in Pine grove Or I should Say Ravine That is There Current Price if you get it up in Mahanoy City at
There other Breaker it will be 10.00 less a Ton Picked Up last time I got it on 3-6-07 They charge more to ship it down to Ravine Next Time Try Either Superior coal it burns Hotter but it has more ash content 12 to 14% 140.00 Picked up a ton or Summit 140.00 9 % Ash a ton Hegins coal co. 135.00 10 To 12% Ash Calven V Lenig is 130.00 a ton 10% Ash UAE Harmony mine is 130.00 a ton with a one ton Limit 6 to 7 % Ash Sherman coal co. 140.00 a ton 10 to 12 % Ash keep warm injoy The Heat Stay away from Reading it is way to inconsistent All others above are always consistent in Quality Except for Hegins & Sherman can be inconsistent ;)

I burn Nut All of Them above are wet breakers Except UAE which is a dry one With a wet breaker you should not get alot or Any fines There wash the coal 3 to 4 Time before They load you and during loading Some do a better Job Then others UAE Will have The most fines do to it being Dry coal sitting in bins They use a Frontend loader or a bobcat skidloader to load you The wet Breakers will be a Chute Or Conveyor Belt or Hopper Chute
